Thanks to this deregulation drive,... shopping online is about to get easier in Korea.
Industry insiders say the government is looking into ways to complement the safety of online
shopping,... without the use of electronic banking certificates,... so that people won't
need to jump through hoops to make purchases. Currently, if you want to buy something online
that costs more than 300-thousand Korean won, or about 280 dollars,... you need a special
electronic certificate that's only provided by banks.
That makes online shopping difficult for foreigners living in the country and people overseas.
The change is expected to take effect in June.
