It's a great time to be looking at your options across the CSU

Early Start is a new program in the CSU.
Students needing some additional support in English and Mathematics will be asked
to participate in a summer program.
It could be online, on the CSU campus, or maybe something that they can complete
at their local community college.
It will give them a good foundation and a great start for their freshman year.
You'll be required to participate in Early Start based on the scores
from either your English Placement Test or Entry Level Math Exam.
You will receive information from the campuses to which you've been admitted
about whether this is a requirement for you or not.
If you've applied for financial aid at a CSU campus and met certain criteria,
there will be no cost for Early Start.

The CSU is very interested in access and wants to make sure that every student
who wants to attend the CSU has a place.
In the admissions process, CSU campuses give priority to students that are transferring
from California community colleges.
Our next priority is to give consideration to California residents
that will be entering as freshman.
We also give special consideration to student veterans and active duty military.
In a typical year, the CSU welcomes about 90,000 new students and that comes
from over 400,000 applications that are submitted.
We know that many of you are leaving your options open and looking for the best fit
for you, so we encourage you to apply broadly and explore our campuses.

If you're a first time freshman and are applying for admission,
ensure that you're using your high school transcript as you're completing the application.
Most CSU campuses use the self-reported information for your application
to make their decision, so it's important that this information is accurate and complete.
When you apply for admission, you have the option
of applying to each of the 23 CSU campuses.
We encourage you to apply broadly, make informed decisions, and apply to campuses
that are offering programs that meet your criteria and meet your own personal interest.

If you're a transfer student, one of the most important things is begin the application
process early.
Start applying October 1, which begins the priority application date,
and make sure that you're completing your application with accurate information based
on the courses you've taken at community colleges or other colleges and universities.
Most CSU campuses will request official transcripts from the colleges
and universities you've attended, so make sure you get those to them as soon as you can.

Once you submit your application, make sure that you check your email
and check your campus portal for each CSU campus that you apply to.
It's important to meet deadlines, respond to their requests,
and get all the information that they need.
And most campuses use their campus portals now to communicate the most timely
and accurate information to students who've applied.
Some campuses start notifying students of their admissions decision as early as November;
other campuses will periodically release decisions all the way through March or April.
CSU campuses offer an amazing place to be a student,
whether it's in the classroom learning new subjects you didn't even know existed,
making lifelong friends, or having the impact of faculty
that will influence your career for the rest of your life.
It's time to think about college.
The priority application process for the CSU begins October 1st
and runs through November 30th.
So visit csumentor.edu for more information,
explore our campuses, and submit your application.
