So for those who know me, you may know that I'm a little bit of a nerd, so when I heard
YouTube were having a geek week, I decided I was going to teach you how to sound a little
bit smarter. Now I'm going to focus on maths for this video but you can change this to
any other area, I just chose maths as for the last two years I've competed in competitive
mathematics, but you can choose whatever you want. So without further adu here are my tips
on how to sound smarter. Step number one. Stall! You want it to take as long as possible
between them asking the question and you answering the question, but, you want it to sound like
the longest (*shortest) time possible. A great example of this I always find is repeating
the question. If they ask you what six times seven is, you say, 'what's six times seven?
is that what you're asking me? oh it is what you're asking me! oh six time seven that's
no bother at all that's fourty two.' and they're going wow how did you get that. And the whole
time you were working it out in your head, you do take a bit of multitasking to get used
to it but it makes you sound an awful lot smarter! Step number two. If someone asks
you a complicated question break it down into smaller simple steps . If someone asks you
to multiply by seven, think right, if I multiply by ten and half it that's five and add the
number twice. It may seem a lot more complicated but when you get used to it it's how you're
going to work anyway because it is much easier to break things down and work them out simpler
like that. Step number three. Unfortunately my third and final step is to learn. You're
going to have to learn something, you have to know your times tables if you want to do
maths, you have to know basic facts if you want to do something else. You have to know
basic principles, once you know the basic principles, you can work your way up, using
the other steps to learn the more advanced ones, or even just work them out yourself.
There's always two ways to work out a problem, so make sure you always know a backup way,
even if it is the long way and learning all the times tables and everything, it is much
easier to learn that way. So that has been my three steps for how to sound smarter, I
hope it's helped and don't forget to check out other videos in geek week and other videos
of mine. Don't forget to comment, rate, rate, do we rate anymore?! no we don't!
