>> Hi giugizers and welcome to a new video
if I look a bit pale is because today I'm going to do something different
a make up and hair tutorial in the style of Frida Kahlo.
Next week will be mardi Gras and I thought it was a cute idea
to show you how to put together an easy costume
without spending too much.
Let's start with the hair
and first of all we need to separate it in two sections.
Now we tie one section with a rubber band
and we take care od the other section.
Frida's classic hair style is made of two braids which overlap
on the top of the head
which will be embellished with some colorfull fabric.
It's very easy, we lay the fabric around the neck,
then we separate the hair in two sections
and we start braiding using the fabric as third section, like so.
Once we reach the end we tie it with a rubber band.
Now we do the same thing on the other side.
If some bits of hair slipped away from the braids
use a bobby pin to set them.
Now we grab the braids
we bring them on the top of the head
and we tie the fabric in a bow.
Now we need to add the classic Frida Kahlo's flowers
I used some artificial flowers, I detached them from the stem
and now I strengthen them with some iron wire, which will also help me
to keep them in place.
And the hair is done
we can now move on to make up!
Frida didn't usually wear a heavy make up,
her distinguishing feature were obviously the eyebrows
and the blush on her cheeks
I already applied foundation, concealer and powder, so
the next step is applying the bronze to contour a bit
to add some intensity.
Now let's move to the eyes
as I said Frida didn't use an heavy make up, in fact I went for
a light brown eyeshadow from the Naked Basics palette which I will apply on the eyelid
to add some depth.
I'm adding some darker brown eyeshadow on the crease always to add some depth to the eyes.
And to brighten up the brow bone
I'm using a mat pink shade always from the same palette.
To the cheeks I chose a reddish blush
to re-create Frida's blushing cheeks
and I'm going to apply it like so.
It's time to take care of the eyebrows!
To draw Frida's eyebrows
I will use some brown eyeshadow and an angled brush
First of all I will widen my natural brows trying to shape them
as angled as Frida's ones
and after I will focus on the middle section.
To make them look more natural I will also use an eyebrows pencil.
Here are our Frida style eyebrows!
I'll add another detail...
this was another of Frida's features!
Ok, now we apply the mascara.
The last detail are the red lips.
First of all we use a pencil to outline the lips
and now a mat red lipstick.
And the make up is done!
Now to complete our Frida's look
we will have to add some jewels
possibly some ethnic ones,
so I will wear a ton of bracelets,
some rings,
and now some big earrings.
I'll use these ones which are a reproduction of Frida's hand earrings
and I got them in Mexico city at Frida Kahlo's museum,
but you can use any big ethnic earring you have at home.
An ethnic necklace, I didn't have anything
suitable with the look I was going for, so
I made one using some trims.
You'll also need a black embroided top,
or any top reminding of Mexico,
a *** skirt, mine is a vintage one that comes straight from my mother's wardrobe,
and as last thing
a shawl to lay on the shoulders
like so.
And our Frida's look is ready to be shown!
That's all for today, I hope you liked the video
