When should I order my wedding flowers?
Book your florist along with the other arrangements like the venue. Don’t wait until the last
minute or you might not get the florist or flowers you want.
Florists get booked quickly?
Order the flowers at least a month in advance. If you are getting married in popular months
like February or June, order flowers at least two months in advance.
We’re getting married in December.
Then you’ll need to order at least two months in advance, because of all the demand for
holiday bouquets.
How early is too early?
You can order flowers six months in advance. Florists have no problems with ultra-early
orders, but you’ll have problems if you wait too long.
I don’t want dead or dying flowers by ordering too soon.
While you order flowers months in advance, don’t actually have the flowers shipped
early. They might die before your ceremony, and you’ll have to plan to take care of
them along with all the other last minute wedding activities.
How much time does it take to ship flowers?
If you are shipping in tulips for Holland or roses from South America, give the florist
as much notice as possible to schedule the delivery. Then you’ll have priority over
those who walk in and want to walk out with blooms.
I’m not planning on an international floral display or anything exotic like orchids.
Remember that it is summer in South America when it is winter here. Fresh flowers for
the ceremony will either be flown in or raised in greenhouses here.
What if I try to do the flowers themselves?
If you are arranging your own flowers, set them up the day before. You won’t keep your
sanity if you try to do makeup, the dress, supervise food set up, socialize with guests
and set up your floral arrangements.
Not to mention risking dirt under your newly manicured nails.
Or stains on your wedding dress!
