Some people don’t like Lauki Ki Sabzi at all.
Everyone loves it when Chana Dal is added in it.
Today, we will prepare Lauki of Chana Dal.
Let us see what all do we require to prepare Chana Dal Lauki.
Lauki (Bottle-gourd) - 300 grams.
Paste of 2 tomatoes, 1 green chili and a piece of ginger of half inch
Chana Dal (soaked for 4 to 5 hours) - 1/4 cup.
Finely chopped coriander - 2 to 3 tbsp
Ghee - 1 to 2 tbsp
Oil can also be taken to prepare Lauki.
Dhaniya powder - 1 tsp
Salt - less than 1 tsp or according to the taste.
Haldi powder - 1/4 tsp
Red pepper - less than 1/4 tsp
Jeera - 1/4 tsp
Heeng (asafoetida) - 1 pinch
Let us start preparing the Lauki of Chana Dal.
Let's heat the cooker first.
Lauki Ki Sabzi can be prepared in two ways.
In the first method, we can fry all the spices and tomatoes together.
Then, we can add lauki and Chana Dal and cook it after closing the lid of the cooker.
Spices are fried separately after that and are mixed in it.
The vegetable tastes delicious in both the ways.
Here, we are preparing Lauki Ki Sabzi directly by frying spices in cooker.
Add Ghee in the cooker.
Add jeera and heeng in it.
Also, add turmeric and Dhaniya powder in it.
Fry these spices.
Now, we will add the paste of tomatoes, ginger and green chili.
Fry the paste till oil comes out from it.
Peel Lauki in the meantime.
We have washed the Lauki before.
Make small pieces of Lauki.
Ghee has separated from the paste of spices.
Therefore, we will add Chana Dal and pieces of Lauki in it.
Add salt and red pepper in it.
Fry all the things by mixing all the ingredients.
Add 1 and half cup water in the vegetable now.
Close the lid of the cooker.
Cook vegetable in mid-flame for 5 minutes after one whistle.
Keep the burner in mid-flame now.
Cook the vegetable in mid-flame for 5 more minutes.
Turn off the gas.
Take the vegetable out from the cooker once steam inside it comes out.
The steam is now not present in the cooker.
Open the lid of the cooker.
Lauki Chana is now ready.
Mix a small amount of coriander.
Take out Lauki Chana Dal in a bowl.
Garnish it with coriander.
The Lauki Chana Dal Sabzi is ready.
This much of vegetable can be served to 4 to 5 people.
It can be served with Roti, Parantha, Naan or rice.
