I'm going to try to get up there and 'Ace' these guys!
today is the
twenty thirteen Edmonton Remote Control Society's
summer combat event
it's not
the easiest thing to do
it's easy to control when it's flying away but as soon as it turns around and comes
back
the controls are sort of reversed
we're allowed as much as eight in the air at one time
but sometimes we'll have as many as ten to fifteen
and pilots at an event
They're going pretty hard , eh?
We attach thirty feet of thin string
to thirty feet of crepe paper
and we try to
maneuver our propeller or an even the wing of our airplane
through that string to cut it
when fly a combat plane your heart is gonna start pounding right away
it's not for the faint hearted
Adrenaline. First time I did it, I had to sit down for about twenty minutes. I was just shaking
. . . I was having so much fun
when i finished an event, I'd go home and i was exhausted
but i had such a big grin on my face Do you see how the string is dug into part of the wing here
He flew through somebody's string, and you can see
I think some of it here . . . And that scores ten points!
You can buy a plane that comes in a box. It has your transmitter, your receiver
battery charger everything you need to fly
walk out the front door the store and fly it,
but not legally
You need to have model aeronautics association of Canada Insurance
the proper way to enjoy the radio-controlled hobby is to
join a certified club
our club the Edmonton Radio Control Society offers free instruction
with a membership. If you want to come on a weekend and the gates open
you're more than welcome to come out and ask questions. It's Free? It is free to come in.
Bring yourself a lunch bring your family. It's a real family-oriented club
I'm just havin some fun
I'm out, yeah. Engine died on me. Ha! Ha!
Oh! I'll tell ya. I can't see myself doing anything else
I just have so much fun!!
