This is Kyle Hovercamp from Skatechurch in Portland, Oregon. On behalf of Expert Village,
this is the tutorial of how to learn how to ollie on your skateboard. In this clip, I'm
going to show you how to pop and jump for your ollie. The first thing that I did is
I pressed down with my back foot. The reason that you pressed down with your back foot;
your board has to start coming up. That's what happens when you do that with your back
foot. You also have to give a little bit with your front foot or it's just going to stay
down and there's nothing that's going to happen really. You press down, lift up with your
front foot, and your board will start coming up. That's the first thing that you do when
you're learning an ollie. Now that you've learned popping, the next that you want to
do to learn how to ollie is you have to jump. So you pop, and when you slide your front
foot up when you jump that's what's going to level your board out. You pop, your board's
already going up, but your tail is still on the ground because of your back foot. You
pop it, and then when you jump and slide your front foot out, it'll come off the ground
and that's what causes the ollie. When you're in the air, level both your feet out. You
have to lift your back foot up and your board will level out. You pop it, push down on your
back foot, jump, and slide your front foot up, lift up your back foot, and your board
will level out in the air. This is what it looks like. Pop, and you jump and slide your
front foot up, and your board will level out in the air. The reason it's important for
you to jump is because your board is just a skateboard. It's not strong enough to lift
you off the ground. You pop, you have to jump and slide your front foot up or your board's
going to stay on the ground.
