Hey guys, have you seen the music video of an awesome machine built out of toys by 9
year old girls? Check this out, it's pretty cool!
::Music Playing::
A toy company called "Goldie Blox" made it. Their mission is to give girls options beyond
the princess, fairy, ballet & make-up toys they see at toy stores. So go ahead and click
the link in the description box below to get this one of a kind toy for the girls in your
life this Christmas. Thanks!
Hey guys, it's Dana, and today I'm here at IDA Hollywood with Dance Tutorials LIVE! As
some of you guys know, Matt and I did some choreography in honor of the brand new Hunger
Games movie "Catching Fire" to Elastic Heart by Sia from the movie Soundtrack. If you haven't
seen that choreography yet, you can check that video out here.
Today I'm going to be teaching you guys the dance step-by-step. This combination is a
little bit of a beginner/intermediate contempo-hip hop so it's kind of a hybrid between contemporary
and hip hop. So, when you have moments to freestyle, just have fun with it, you can
pretty much do anything you're feeling. This one's really more about emotion and energy
than any particular steps. So go full out with this one. You ready? Let's get started!
Ok, so we're going to get started by stepping out onto our right leg. As we step out, our
right arm's going to push over and you're gonna change your focus over to the side wall.
So that's really slow, it's three full counts. So it's gonna be nice and dramatic and lose
your focus nice and slow. And try to sink in tight through your mid-section. So you're
going 1, 2, 3, from here you're gonna use this right arm to start pulling your leg in
on the 4. Then you're going to step forward on your right leg, your going to put your
arms out, and then pull them into your chest. From here, you're going to bring your left
leg in and you're going to bring your arms up at the same time. Up from this position,
we're going to drop down twice. We're going to go, drop, drop!
So with these two drops, we really want to release from the bottom of our belly and use
our head last to really give that whooooom, whooooom.... really heavy feeling. So from
here, we're going to step out on our left leg and we're going to raise our arms up nice
and dramatic to the front. From here, we're gonna bring our right leg up and we're gonna
change our focus to the side wall. And my arms just punch down. From here, I'm gonna
bring my right leg down and I'm gonna step to the front and put my right hand on my ear.
I'm gonna change my head to the side, so I'm just kind of pushing on my head so that the
crown of my head goes to the left-side wall.
And then from here, I'm gonna straighten my head out and shift my shoulders over to kind
of straighten myself out. So this is a little bit of a tricky isolation, so from here, you're
shoulders have to shift at the same time as your head straightens out to give that illusion.
From here, your right arm's gonna go out, fingers up to the ceiling. And then, you're
gonna turn your fingers down and at the same time your left knee is gonna change and turn
your body to the side wall so that you're facing that hand. You're gonna bring your
left leg in, bring the hand to your forehead. Then you're gonna step forward. After you
step forward, you're gonna have two counts to kind of do your own release. I do a head
roll here so that's what I'm gonna teach, but you can be a little bit free with this.
This is one of those moments I was talking about.
So when you step forward on the left leg, you have two counts, a 1-2. You place down
on 3, then you knock your leg out, at the same time your arms open, and bring it forward.
So that's kinda quick, that's a 3 & 4. So the and is just back, arms open, and head
kind of change a little bit focus. And then, back down to the front.
So let's go from the top, nice and slow. We go push, 2, 3, 4. This is 5 and up. Down down,
and up 2, punch 3, forward 4, and head, head reach, turn come in and whoooom, 2 whoooom,
ta, ta.
So from here, you have a really long stretch of freestyle. It's a whole 8-count and a 4-count
so this is a 4. You freestyle 5-6-7-8, and then a whole another 8. So what we do, is
on the first 4, we freestyle in place and you can do anything you want. I did it more
sexy, girly, melty, I played with my hair a bit, I hit positions, I kept it really simple...
but if you like to wave, or if you want to do something else, this is your moment. So
don't hold back.
So you freestyle, 5-6-7-8. Then on the next section where you have another full 8, we
did movement. We changed formation in the video, matt and I, but if you don't have a
partner, I still recommend you try to use the floor. Whatever space you're in, try to
use it up on this next 8 of freestyle. So you have another 8. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 of freestyle.
From there, you're gonna step out onto your left leg, you're gonna bring you're right
arm across as a scoop. You're gonna bring your right leg into your left and you're gonna
bring your arms up. From here, you're gonna knock down. On this knock, your arms are gonna
hit like this, your head is gonna go down with them, and your heels are gonna rise off
the floor into releve so you're gonna go whooooomp all at once.
You're right knee is then gonna come in, right arm is up, left arm is down. And then you're
gonna switch, so that your right leg goes out, right arm up. Good. You're gonna push
away from yourself and lose your focus while your right leg slides into your left. Then
you're gonna step back and you're gonna do two grooves. Here's another section, freestyle
it, do whatever feels good. So you're going 'a groove' and 'a groove', 'a groove' and
'a groove'.
From here you're gonna step forward on your right leg, you're gonna bring your arms up
and your hands are going to do two circles in towards your body at the wrist. And while
you're doing this, really lift your head, rise your whole body up so that here when
we drop down WHOOOM, it looks really big.
So we go up, up, DOWN. From here, our heels are gonna go out to the right, toes are gonna
go over to the right, and then our right knee is going to come up and we're going to punch
down. So on that little heel-toe section things speed up a bit here. Your left arm kinda comes
up when your heels go to the right, then your right arm comes up when your toes go to the
right. Then your both arms punch down as that knee comes up. Good.
So that's a little quick, a whoom-whoom-ha. From here, this right leg is gonna go out
to the side twice, a-whoom and whoom. You're gonna bring your legs together and your arms
are gonna rotate to the right from the elbow and then you're gonna bring your left leg
out. So this is an out and out, around, out. From here, you're gonna bring that left leg
in and just the left arm with it so that you're here in this position.
From here we have one more little section of grooves, so you're gonna go forward on
your right leg. You're gonna go forward and pull-through. Then you're gonna step out on
your left leg and you're gonna grab your face and you're gonna go left and down.
From here, your left arm is free. You're gonna roll your hands in towards you as you start
to bring that right foot in. Then you're gonna bring your right foot up and your hand is
gonna try to trace down your leg so that your right hand is on your right knee. From here
you're gonna step back on your right leg, your focus is still gonna be to the side wall
and you're gonna press your right hand down. Then you're gonna press your left hand down.
Then you're gonna change your left knee, right hand, and your focus all at the same time
so you're gonna hit, HERE.
From here, you're gonna look up to the ceiling, over to the side wall, then this right hand
thats on your chin is gonna grab your left shoulder. It's gonna slide across your body
and both arms are gonna smash down as your left leg steps.
Then you're gonna bring your arms up to this position as your right leg resets, this is
gonna prepare you for a turn. You're gonna turn over your right shoulder and your gonna
knock forward on the three. You can do any type of knock you want, this is the last step
of the routine. So anything you're feeling, make sure you really show your personality.
I did this in the dance, so if you wanna copy me, that's great too. So you go, knock and
release. Great job!
Let's try it nice and slow from the tippy top with all the counts. We go 5-6-7-8. Push
1-2-3-4, this is 5 and 6 drop 7,8. Come up, 1, 2, punch 3, 4, this is 5, and 6, turn 7,
in 8. Circle 1, 2, down 3 and 4, freestyling 5-6-7-8. Moving around 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8. Stepping
1, 2, hitting 3, 4, going 5 and 6, back 7, 8. Back 1, 2 up 3, 4, down 5, 6 and 7, this
is 8 and 1. Around 2, down 3, in 4, pulling 5 and 6, face 7, arm 8. Rolling 1, knee 2,
a 3 and 4, 5 and 6, step 7, prep 8. Turning 1, 2, knock 3, release 4. Great job! Let's
