My fellow creatives,
I stand here today not as your President but as your conscience.
I stand here today and I address the creative community
in every corner of our globe.
I have a question for you:
Where are you Creativity?
To be the most creative person in the building
was to be the most important person in the building.
But times have changed. Our industry has changed.
Now we are told that it's not the time to take risks.
It's not the right climate.
But without creativity, your industry is just business.
Creativity can improvise and inspire and inflame.
Be a problem. Be a nuisance.
Be a stone in the shoe of convention.
This is why D&Ad is important.
We always have and always will award ideas.
Ideas that are original, inspiring,
exceptionally well executed and relevant.
Whether you're a designer, illustrator, technologist,
writer, photographer, art director, typographer,
product designer, director or even a social media consultant.
Whatever field you create in,
all you have to do is be excellent.
Not good, not very good but excellent.
Yes, our standards are high.
But our standards are higher than the rest
because that is the only way standards are raised.
Let's show them what we can do. Let's fight for creativity.
This is not just a call to entries, it's a call to arms.
Go on to inspire, go on to aspire.
Thank you.
