I've got two projects going on right now.
The first one I started last year
and it's called Strive for 85.
Basically what that is, it represents
how much weight I lost from the sixth grade
going into the seventh grade.
And you know I ended up losing 85 pounds.
I've been carrying on this event
or well this project
and basically what I do
is I just go out there and I try and motivate
other kids that you know having
health problems or weight problems to go out there
and get active and healthy.
The second project I have it's called Mason's Jar
which you know I felt it's very appropriately named
since my name is Mason and I've got a mason jar
that holds all my money.
I decided that this thing holds money.
And so there's all these kids out there
that are kind of poor and they don't
have a lot of money.
So they can't really start a healthy lifestyle
for any these 5Ks or stair climbs.
One event it's going to ask 5 kids in it.
And I'm going to pay for each of their registration fee
so I have 5 kids per 1 stair climb
and I'll get another 5 kids and let them do a 5k
and I'll get another 5 kids and let them do an obstacle course
and I'm trying to get that 17 times
so I can get 85 cuz you know
my magic number. Meet 85 important people,
do 85 active events, and help out 85 people
that are having weight problems.
I feel like I need to help people.
I need help myself actually.
This past January I got diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
I thought that was such a coincidence
because it had been a year since
I'd started my Strive for 85 project.
And you know I'm like I had lost all this weight.
I was doing again I was keeping
my health up and bam diabetes.
And like that's you know it's crazy
but I'm not gonna let that stop me.
