We having a saying that is "chance let us meet, time made us friends, and life turned
us into sisters" because that is really what I consider you: my sister.
It is even Facebook "official."
This is my best friend Nicole.
And this is my best friend Allison.
We met freshman year on floor 15 of Warren Towers.
I met Nicole 5 minutes into my experience here at Boston University. As soon as I stepped
onto the floor she ran over and gave me a big hug and I knew right away that we would
get along,
but I never could have imagined that Nicole would become my best friend for the next four
years and probably for the rest of my life.
I was so far away from home that Allison really became my family. She was my support system.
I am from North Reading, MA.
And I am from Peru, so completely different continent and, of course, a country.
It is sort of like we are the same person, but from two completely different worlds.
We're different people that just work well together.
And we have taught each other so many different things about our cultures and our life. Nicole
had never spent any time in Boston before, and I learned so much about Peru from her.
Quick what's the capital?
Lima.
Yay!
I remember going back home for Christmas vacation and telling my friends all about you and all
of my other friends from the floor and they were blown away that I had become so close
to someone already.
We knew freshman year that we were going to be close when used to be studying crazy for
Chemistry, and we would take breaks and it would be four o'clock in the morning and we
would just laugh so hard that we would just collapse on the floor in Warren Towers.
I am so close to Allison that her family has practically adopted me.
My family absolutely loves Nicole. Every time my dad calls he asks how his adopted daughter
is.
I went abroad twice and none of those families compare to Allison's family. They love me
so much, they pick me up from the airport every semester when I come from Florida or
from Peru.
And Nicole spent a lot of time at my house. We've taken trips together.
We even jokingly say that I'm going to marry her brother so we can actually be sisters,
and it can be official. But you know what, it might happen! You never know!
Now we finally live together in StuVi2. We have a beautiful corner apartment that overlooks
the Charles and we love it.
Our apartment is always smelling of cupcakes and brownies.
We've always wanted to have a pet cat together, but you're not allowed to have one in StuVi2.
You are not allowed to have a fish either but... shh!
So we had our fish named Nillson, which is "Nicole and Allison." He passed away shortly
after. So now we have a plant because that can't die.
Well it can, but it's alive now.
I definitely think that without you BU would not be the same. When I think of BU, I think
"Allison Bitto and our friendship."
I think we have grown so much together in the last four years. We are completely different
people now than we were freshman year when she got off that elevator, but we've grown
together, and we have laughed, and we've cried,
and there's been so many different things in our lives, and getting through, but we've
done it together.
So even though are lives are going down different paths, we will always still be friends and sisters.
Hey, we are family, and family always sticks together.
