Today, we have a 2012 Honda CRV and well be test fitting the Rhode Gear Highway 2 Hitch
Mounted Bike Carrier, part number RG8015220. To mount the bike carrier to our vehicle,
well fit the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube on our hitch. Well line up the
hitch pinholes, feed our anti-rattle bolt through the hitch in the bike rack, and tighten
it down using a 3-1/4-inch wrench. With the bolt tightened down, our bike rack is secured
and ready to go. First, were going to check for rear vehicle access. Well pull the pin
at the bottom of our bike rack, tilt it down to make sure we can still open the cargo door
of our CRV. We still have plenty of access to our cargo
area so well tilt the bike rack back up, re-secure it with the pin, and well be ready to load
our bike. Well fit our bike into the cradles and secure it with the hook and loop straps.
With that, our bike rack is all loaded up and were ready to get it on our way. We have
about 9-3/4 inches of ground clearance from the bottom of our bike rack to the ground.
From the farthest point of our bumper to the nearest point on our bike rack measures about
4-3/4 inches of rear clearance.
