Hi, Guys, and Welcome to Studio Knit.
Today's Knitting Lesson: Long Tail Cast On!
Casting On adds the very first stitches onto your knitting needle before starting to knit.
Once you have created your slipknot, it is time to Cast On!
This Long Tail Cast On is my favorite method. It creates an even, stretchy edge, is quick
and fun!
So, let's get started!
Hold your needle with your right hand.
With the long end of the yarn that is attached to your yarn ball, place the yarn between
your first two fingers of your left hand. And with the short end of the yarn, wrap it
over your thumb.
I like to hold the slipknot on the needle with my right index finger so it doesn't slide
around.
Take your needle and on the outside left of your thumb, scoop up the yarn.
Now, passing between the yarn on your thumb, cross over to your right and scoop up the
yarn to the far right on your fingers.
Pull it up and then drop the yarn on your thumb and pull tightly onto your needle. That
creates your second stitch.
I learn best by watching in action, so let's do it a few more times.
Scoop from the left, scoop from the right up up up and done.
Scoop from the left, scoop from the right, up up up and done.
Repeat this process until you have cast on the number of stitches that you need.
Thank you so much for watching. This is a new channel, so please subscribe and check
out my new Knitting Lessons Playlist. If you are a new knitter, my lessons will clearly
teach everything you need to know. Bye!
