The University of Alaska requires that all official
communication be delivered through your
student Gmail account.
All faculty members will contact you through
this account.
Therefore, it is imperative that you either check
your university Gmail account regularly, or
forward it to another email address.
In this tutorial I am going to guide you through
how to access your university Gmail account
and how to forward your Gmail to another
address.
To access your student email account, click the
button that is located at the top of Kodiak
College's website.
This will bring you to this new webpage.
Access your email by clicking on the "Mail"
button.
This will then prompt you to enter your UA
username and password.
Your default email address is your username
with @uaa.alaska.edu appended to it.
For example, username@uaa.alaska.edu.
If you do not remember your username or
password visit, https://me.uaa.alaska.edu/,
and it will guide you through the process
of finding or resetting it.
If you encounter any problems, please call
the UAA call center at 907-786-4646.
Your email account will expire one year (three
semesters) after the last semester of attendance.
Once you enter your username and password,
you will be directed to your Gmail account.
If you would like to forward your university email
to a different email address, click the gear
symbol then click "Settings".
Click the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab
on the top of the page.
Click the "Add a forwarding address" button.
Enter the address that you wish to forward
your email to, it will then ask you to confirm.
It will send a verification email to your
forwarded address.
Open the new email and click on the link to confirm.
You can also go back into "Settings" and click
on the "Forwarding" tab to either disable
forwarding or forward the address to your other
email account by selecting this option.
You can choose to keep Gmail's copy in the
inbox, mark Gmail's copy as read, archive
Gmail's copy or delete Gmail's copy.
You can add a different forwarding address
at any time by clicking the "Add a forwarding address" button,
however, Gmail will only automatically
forward your email to one address at a time.
You can forward some of the mail by clicking
here to create a filter.
Click "Save Changes" when you are finished.
