I have spent quite a long time, sometimes working in, or studying in the Middle East.
or being involved in issues in the Middle East.
I've learnt small amounts of 'Ammiyah (Jordanian Dialect) before
but never really had time to
do it properly
now I am on an academic scholarship
so for the first time I can really hopefully
inshAllah sort my Arabic out for the first time.
in a decent way.
I'm interested in working here.
I'm trying to go to law school so I think that picking up
Arabic on the side would be of help
so if I go for a different career, I can't image it hurting doing it.
In order to understand
astronomy as it was really being done in England in the Medieval period
it's important for or helpful anyway
to try to understand the sources that they were using which were mostly in Arabic.
Its quite like country, I don't feel like a stranger
The people are wonderful and very hospitable.
so I'm at Qasid hoping to
get to terms with the language so I can further my studies with the religion, inshAllah
I eventually want to do an Islamic Studies Masters program
and hopefully try to get my PhD specialized in Shariah Law.
I think we will be doing a lot of hard work
for the next eight weeks
