- Did you read these?
"We are free wolves. We want free Alkhazurovo"
"Freedom or death"
Look there
I kept in mind 2 phrases
First: "Our law is Shariah, our constitution is Quran"
The second is a famous appeal of Dolores Ibarruri:
"It is better to die standing, than to live on knees"
I find these 2 phrases neatly describing
the attitude of Chechens, their mentality
For them better to die than to give up
- This is what will happen to every Chechen
who fights against Russians
- Every "Cheech" will end up like this
We call them "Cheech", Spetsnaz calls them "Czechs"
- We will get them all
- Those animals crucified one of our guys
Here scouts demonstrate a cut ear
and claim that this is what can happen with every Chechen
I am afraid that this is an illness
Not revenge, but illness
This guy was a former paratrooper
could throw knives from any position
I think his brain was affected very much by the war
A life of a soldier costs nothing on the war
Homicides have been commited there almost every month
People could be get killed during *** parties
There was a guy who had a bad habit
to threaten whoever was disagree with him
with a grenade
He used to pull out the pin,
wave his hands arround and shout
that he was going to throw the grenade
if somebody was disagree with him
This way he always could achieve his claims
Once somebody shot a round on a check-point
That guy decided that somebody wanted to shoot him
He came to the company, waked up the draftees
but kids said they didn't shoot
He wanted to see their commander
Draftees took him to squad commander
who was sleeping in the BMP
Guy opened up the hatch, waked the sergeant
and wanted him to get out
Sergeant told him to *** off
The guy threw the pin in
and said that next he was going
to throw the grenade
But sergeant ignored that too
Than crazy guy threw grenade into the BMP
and closed up the hatch
That's it. Seargent died
The war is awful because it is possible there
to commit most evil atrocities ever
and not to be punished for that
You can kill, burn
The only thing which can prevent this
is your human nature
I have understood that my life costed nothing
Only after I came back home
I couldn't realise it at war
I thought like "I'll be fine, nothing can happen to me"
But when I came back home
and started chewing all what I've seen and experienced
I came to decision that I'll never go there again
For any money
There's just nothing to do
- This is a historical moment! - Today my friends is a great holiday
Today is Russia's Independence Day
Let's see what gifts we have got from Boris Nicolaevich
- What's there?
- Come on up closer!
- President's Message
"Congratulations, Defenders of Motherland!
These hard times when
separatist gangs strive to impose their will
to all people of Russia
you firmly and decisively thwarted their attempts
And prooved that Russian Military
can save country's integrity
and strategic interests
lives and dignity of citizens
Thank you for your courage..."
- He says thank yoy Serghey, thank you Igor and thank you Constantin
- He is welcome
"for selfless wartime job
and carrying out your mission.
You have got a difficult task
to recover constitutional order
in Chechen Republic, to protect both people
of Chechnya and Russia from bandits and terrorists
I wish you strong health and I am sure
that you will fulfill your military service
with honor and will return home
back to your friends and relatives
The President of Russian Federation,
Boris Nicolaevich Yeltsin
- Now, let's see what we have got in here
This is the moment I like the best
- Lighter, cigarettes
- Art pens
- Art pens? Really?
- No, that's a lighter
- Wow, must be zippo
- Soda, candies
- The feeling of a New Year eve
- Thank you Boris Nicolaevich!
- Today is a great holiday, huh? - Exactly
- Today we go for visit to our check-points
Important thing is not to get ambushed
First we have to go to scouts
Oh, today we have talks with Maskhadov
Maybe it's better to go to talks first?
- I think yes
Constantin, shut down your camcorder, we are going to talks
OK, I'm shutting it
- Hey, it's a nice gift
Are we supposed to vote for him?
- Probably yes
- I have to think on it
The motherland shows its gratitude
when you get back home
When a man comes disabled
motherland pays him pennies
which are barely enough
for food and some medicines
Or when emloyers refuse to hire veterans
This is when gratitude is being shown
