A marquee tool has a lot more options than just being a square marquee tool and I'll
show you what I mean. If you look over here at our Photoshop program here we'll go over
here and hit our toolbox where our square marquee is. As you see down here there is
a little bitty black arrow here at the corner meaning if I click on this and hold it down
I'll have more options. As you can see I have the elliptical marquee tool which if I use
it, let's deselect by hitting command D to deselect all my items, I can come over here
and actually create a circle. Very quick marquee tool selection that I can cut out this hat
and move it around wherever I want to use it here. Or, I can come up here and hit and
hold down and you can see single row marquee tool which, if I hit command E to quit all
my stuff, I can click on this and it will just actually do a cut such as this. So if
I hit my command key, as you can see, nothing on this side right here where actually changes
only right here within this line here. This is mainly for if you need to line some stuff
up. I really haven't found a whole lot of usage for it. Maybe other people will because
it exists. As you can see we can slide this back and forth. As it sits here and as you
can see only the rectangle and the elliptical marquee tool come with a short cut M. So if
you're using your single row marquee tool you're not going to be able to select it.
But, always remember when you go to hit your hot key to double check and see which one
you have selected because if you have the elliptical tool selected and you want to go
for the rectangle marquee tool you'll be quite surprised when you pull it up. Have fun with
it and enjoy.
