Marsa Abu Dabab. At first sight just one amongst countless other bays on the
red sea coast in south Egypt.
You have to look below the waters surface to notice, that this is a very special bay.
One won't find any colorful corals here, but rather a sandy bottom
covered with sea grass as far as one can see.
Perfect conditions for sea turtles which are highly popular amongst scuba divers.
Their diet consists mainly of sea grass and are therefore frequently seen
at Marsa Abu Dabab.
Some patience and luck is needed to be looking for them in the right place of
the large bay. But when you find them, you will get the chance to observe these fascinating
animals close-up and personal.
This Green Sea Turtle, one of in total 7 species of marine sea turtles,
calmly looks out for the juiciest sea grass and picks it quickly from the sandy bottom.
It seems as if she wasn't even noticing us. Only the Remora gets tired of us
and disappears, hiding under its host.
After a couple of minutes our new friend leaves us again to go up to the surface and
get a few breaths of live-saving air.
We stay behind and look after her. Grateful we could experience this wonderful moment.
