This is the Army Today.
The Chicago Car Show is the perfect backdrop for a soldier who loves the Army.
From Chicago, I'm Gail McCabe.
Nice to meet you. Sergeant Roche.
I've been a recruiter for three years.
I love it. I love it.
It's hard. It's hard work, but that's what the Army told me to do.
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming to the Army Strong booth.
The auto show is excellent to meet people--
How are you doing? >>Pretty good. How about you?
--most likely students--high school students--and a lot of grads.
We get a lot of not negative but kind of skeptical conversations.
It's difficult for them to realize what we do.
I like what I do. I love what I do.
The display that we have is great to help us out with the recruiting part.
Before being a recruiter, I was a truck driver--88 Mike.
I went to Iraq in 2004-2005. I loved it too. I love my job.
I love the Army.
So when the Army tells me to do something--I'm an NCO, I'm a Staff Sergeant--that's what I do.
Oh yes, it is the Year of the NCO.
We were talking about that the other day,
and for me, it's everything.
We're the ones that take care of everything.
We're the ones who do pretty much all the legwork.
I'm from Puerto Rico. I joined 8½ years ago.
I didn't know English.
I've got my family here--my wife and my two kids.
I can't ask for no better.
It's been great for me, so I would keep doing it for 50 more years if I can.
[announcer] There's strong and then there's Army Strong.
