Hello my name is Sophy Jones and I am gonna show you how to use a heart rate monitor.
The heart rate monitor that I have is a Karrimor pink watch that goes with the heart monitor
strap and then the chest strap. Which just goes underneath your bra, support running
bra. And then a strap to make this longer so that
it goes around. So I am going to show you how it works.
So you just clip it in. So you clip it in like that which these bits.
But obviously you leave one because else you need tot put it on.
So you put it on then this bit here that is the sensor so you have got to make sure that
that is the bit that touches your skin. So I just put my strap right around my chest.
And then all you do you just clip that bit in like that and then you just put your monitor
underneath your sports bra. Like that so you can't even see it.
So when your running people won't even know that you got it on. So you put it there and
it picks up your heart beats. Then what you do is on the watch it will register
your heart beats. So as you can see the heart up here mine isn't
working but that will start beeping and it means that its registered and that its picking
up your heart signal. But my clock isn't working so I am gonna take
it back but it was only a tenner and I am going to get another heart rate monitor when
I can afford it. But I thought I would just do a video to show you how to put it on because
there were a lot of videos out there and they were a bit...not clear.
So this is how you put a heart monitor on. You literally just put it right in the centre
and underneath your chest and thats how you put it on.
Also I forgot to say when my heart rate monitor wasn't working I thought it was something
I was doing so I researched all the ways that you can get your heart rate monitor to work,
And thats when I came up with a couple solutions so Itried them out.
SO one of them was gel. Apartentely if you put gel on the sensor bit then it conducts
your beat better to the machine picks it up more.
SO I went into boots and Ibrought some intrasound gel.
SO if you just like put it on, Just put a little bit on.
Then just like rub it in, like that. Then again you just put it on exactly the
same place. Then obviously I won't do mine up as mine
isn't working anyway. So I if set my heart rate monitor you can
see. You can see it says 0.
So obviously it doesn't work so when the gel didn't work I then took the battery out and
tried that. So I took this bit off but that didn't work
either. So I am guesing that they just gave me like
a faulty heart rate monitor. It was like a tenner so I am going to go back
in there and I am going to say:"Excuse me can I have my £10 back please?!".
Obviously I brought a heart rate monitor watch to track my fitness and tell me if I am in
my target zone but its not working so I want my £10 back!
And as well this infrasound gel cost me £3.00 something and the batteries were like £4.00.
So thats not cheap. So like they nearly cost as much as the actual
watch. So I am going to go in there and ask for my
money back. Because I did want the FT4 Polar HRM but thats
like £75 and I work like. I am on minimum wage so if work for 15 hours like I got to
work for 15 hours to buy that watch. So like obviously it would be nice to have a really
nice watch that tells you your heart beats and a decent one but you just can't afford
it! So I rang my dad up and I said to him and
he said he is going to show me how to manually check my pulse rate.
So I am gonna do a video showing how to manually check your pulse rate.
So now on the bottom you should see a link, if you click that it will take you to the
video. Where I show you how to manually check your pulse rate.
Because obviously you don't want to be paying out for heart rate monitor if they just break
and if the signal is really rubbish like I put mine there and have just my sports bra
on and its like hardly very far and it still isn't picking up.
So I think a lot of problems people are having is that they will put theirs on and it won't
pick it up and obviously they buy conductive gel like I done. Change the batteries and
they still don't work. Which is really bad, so yeah, I want my £10
pound back!! And they gave me my money back!
