>>Hi, my name is Kevin Deissler and welcome to my Learning Log. I am an elementary technology
teacher, teaching kindergarten through fifth grade students how to use Microsoft products,
such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, as well as how to type. We even get into playing around
with some Web 2.0 sites. I also love to help teachers incorporate technology into their
curriculum. We have class sets of iPads and iPod Touches, and I show teachers how they
can use this technology to enhance their lessons and engage their students. I’ve taught many
things at the middle school level, including technology, so that background gives me an
advantage in preparing my elementary students for the next level.
When I’m not at school, I’m usually putting Legos together with my son, Carter, who is
almost three years old. We’ve built some pretty cool things and it’s just amazing
to watch his little mind work and create new things. He really lets his imagination run
wild and it’s so fun to share in that. I’m a huge Phillies fan and can’t wait
for pitchers and catchers to report for Spring Training and finally start this season! My
wife and I take Carter down to some of the games and it’s great to share in the experiences
with him. My travels in college have taken me around
the country through involvement with the Shippensburg University Marching Band, concert band, and
my band fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi. Even with those experiences, it’s really neat
to be involved in a graduate program where I’ll be able to collaborate and create with
people from around the world. I’m really looking forward to what this program has to
offer and I can’t wait to experience it with all of you.
