Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in welcoming Dr. Rita Bornstein to the stage. It's good to be with you, thank you for coming. This is a wonderful time to be taking about civility with our country caught in this grip of incivility. In my opinion, universities are the only American institutions with the intellectual values and cultural traditions that can teach us how to disagree without being disagreeable. I think of civility as having three dimensions: civil behavior, civil discourse and civil decision making. Civility means more than just being nice to everyone. You have a chance, a real chance, to create a model of civility. Thank you.
