In this playthrough, I start as a Pyromancer. But it should
be easy to do with any class that got a decent melee weapon.
The Master Key is specific to my run.
Here in the first section, the procedure for getting out is pretty standard.
The only real "obstacle" is the first demon boss.
You will notice that I unequip my head and hands piece as well as unequip the sword.
The reason for this, is that you won't need them in a pyromancy run.
But you won't need the sword hilt period. So you can drop it early.
Only light this bonfire as a safety meassure. If you are confident, don't bother.
Getting this shield is a safety meassure. Won't need it as pyromancer otherwise.
You have to run quite far up to trigger the ball. Can be tricky at best.
From this point on, equip your melee weapon with two hands at all times. Easier that way.
You generally want to stay behind him and don't swing more than twice to save stamina.
We only need to increase our Dexterity to 10.
Now we can wield the Drake Sword with two hands.
From here on out you will meet the worst enemy in this game by far.
The Skeleton.
The Skeletons nature is so sporadic and random that their
movements and skillsets become very hard to predict.
On top of that, they are almost impossible to manipulate and you
just have to pray to the RnG gods. They can end a run instantly.
This dragon should in theory never hit you with its foot.
The upcoming room can be tough to survive. Try and bait the skeletons the best you can.
You are invincible when opening doors or using levers.
But you can still be left in a bad spot when opening this door.
Mash the dodge button as soon as the door is open to avoid bad situations.
The Gold Resin in this Chest is mandatory to get the Drake Sword. You only have 3 uses.
The upcoming jump is very hard to get right. Takes a lot of practice to get consistent.
The skeletons will follow you so make sure you step away from the light door as you go through.
Heal up and apply the Gold Resin to your weapon.
Stay between the boss' legs or behind him as much as possible. 3 hits stagger.
In some cases you might be lucky and he steps backwards and falls down to his death.
Run towards the stairs on the right side for cover.
It is almost impossible to make it in time, so don't worry.
Here we go down to activate a shortcut, should we die. I consider it mandatory.
Now you will see that there is a very small safety zone from the fire, and that I die.
But this will give me the opportunity to show you how the shortcut works, should you die here.
The ladder we kicked down earlier.
You don't have to kill this skeleton. I do it as a safety meassure.
Apply the Gold Resin and wait for the exact moment the dragon sets off from the church.
When it does, run up to its left foot and wait for the tail
to be down on the ground. Hit the tail 2-3 times.
There you go. You now have the sword!
I was unlucky with its behaviour this run so I had to improvise the following.
Only sleep by this bonfire as a safety meassure.
Using this route the Mecha Boar will not spot nor follow you past the gate.
Reactiving this gate is a safety meassure. But the gate is permanently open should you die.
Killing these 3 following knights is a safety meassure.
If you get good at this you can simply run past them.
These knights are tough to beat with no shield. Be cautious.
The next room is hard. You will get blocked in the
corridor by a knight and the boss will start chasing you.
The next corridor opening is blocked by a skeleton. Always
approach from one side and it will move enough to squeeze through.
When you pass through the light take your time to heal up and prepare.
Hit the boss from behind as much as possible. 3 hits make it stagger.
The 2nd gargoyle will always spawn with half health.
And there you go! For my run I need a 2nd homeward bone. Not mandatory.
And we are done! Drake Sword and Undead Church Bell rang in 17 minutes!
Keep watching for a blooper that shows how infuriating the skeletons are.
