I worked in the medical field as an X-Ray tech and a nurse
for years and I developed neuropathy in my feet
so I can no longer stand.
I went back to school, took some career assessment classes
and I found that this was a good fit
for me 'cause I actually interned
with the Santa Barbara County
in Child Welfare Services taking foster children
and re-uniting them with their parents.
Based on my reports they would go to court and decide whether
or not re-unification was a possibility
and it was very rewarding.

and not just listening, but really, truly listening.
Going beyond what's coming out of their mouth.
Because they can say something
but you can feel something different.
Allan Hancock is probably the best facility I've ever been
to as far as education.
It gave me the opportunity to go out and still be able
to help people in a different capacity
than what I had done in the past.
Probably has been the most positive experience
for me as far as education.
