This video will introduce the NL-42, the NL-52 and the NL-62.
These are user-friendly sound level meters that give reliable and accurate measurements.
They are used in many fields; for example,
for environmental monitoring,
by automobile
and home appliance manufacturers,
and for quality assurance.
The meters conform to international standards, including IEC61672.
The NL-42 is categorized as a class 2 meter,
and the NL-52 and NL-62 are class 1 meters.
The NL-62 is the highest model in the series
and it has additional low-frequency sound and noise measurement functions
which can measure frequencies from 1 to 20 000 Hz.
We have selected twelve points that show the advantages of these meters and why they are popular.
1) Full-color displays
Each meter has a large, bright three-inch screen.
These are easy to see indoors, outdoors, and even in complete darkness.
The operator can quickly see a variety of useful information.
Also, a flashing colored LED shows what the unit is currently doing.
2) Paper manual not required.
A help function can easily be accessed on the devices
in English, German, Spanish,
French and Japanese.
It is no longer necessary to carry around a troublesome paper manual.
3) No need to switch the range settings.
It's necessary with older models to change the level ranges to match the sounds being monitored.
But here this is not necessary, thereby removing a chance for operator error.
4) Main and Sub channel measurements at the same time
It is possible to simultaneously measure in two different ways.
For example, the main channel could display A weighting, Fast
while the sub channel displays C-weighting, Slow.
5) Improved auto store function
This enables Lp and Leq mode to be conducted simultaneously.
In earlier models only one could be selected, but now both can be recorded together.
6) Both anomalies and important sounds can be marked and isolated from the background data.
This can be helpful when the operator is looking back to decide whether a sound was significant or not.
7) Continuous detailed measurements for one month (about 1000 hours)
Using an AC adapter, the meters can be used to conduct long-term environmental monitoring, due to large data storage capacity.
8) Functionality can be extended with a range of options
Four programs are available:
(8-A) A waveform recording program
Uncompressed WAV files and their associated sound levels can be recorded together.
The recorded data can be played on a computer and used for frequency analysis.
(8-B) An octave and 1/3 octave real-time analysis program
The results can be loaded and shown in an overlay graph display together with current analysis data.
NC curve graph displays and NC value calculations and displays are also possible.
(8-C) An FFT analysis program
The analysis frequency range is 20 kHz, with 8000 spectrum lines.
Saved analysis results can be loaded and shown in an overlay graph display together with current analysis data.
(8-D) Environmental measurement data management software for the PC
This software makes it easy to manage your stored data.
You can show measurements as graphs, do arithmetic processing,
exclusion sound processing,
report preparation,
file output,
and playback WAV files.
Octave and 1/3 octave band analysis is also possible as an additional option.
9) Easy to transfer data
Using a USB cable, the sound level meter can be seen on your PC as a removable disk.
Data can be easily copied to your PC,
opened in Excel
and screen shot captured as a bitmap file.
An Excel macro is available.
10) Can use rechargeable batteries.
This cuts down on waste and makes the units more eco-friendly.
Depending on the settings,
up to 24 hours of continuous recording are possible using batteries alone.
11) Water resistance
These units, except for their microphones, are water-resistant at a level of IP54.
This helps reduce failures caused by sudden rain showers.
If a WS-15 outdoor wind screen is used, the entire unit becomes water resistant to IPX3.
If a WS-16 rain-protection windscreen is used, it is water resistant to IPX3 for a short period of time.
12) Long-distance microphone extension
The microphone and the main unit can be separated and an extension cable used to connect them to a maximum distance of 500 m.
Thank you for watching this presentation.
Hopefully, when you next need a sound level meter, you will consider one or more of the meters in the NL-42, NL-52 or NL-62 series.
Our basic principle is to "measure sound reliably."
To do this we produce excellent sound level meters.
We think that if you have one, you will definitely like it.
Thank you.
