My name is Tony. I had an accident in 2004 And I had a aneurysm of the brain in 2004 Its hard to explain, its maybe 14 weeks of my life just gone And if anyone did'nt have a brain injury probably wouldnt understand that Just happens, your life is just gone When I was in the national rehabilitation hospital they gave me strategies to cope with my disability the good thing I found about the national rehabilitation hospital was that I actually learned that I had a disability because if you look at me you can see that I have no physical disability I have no emotions, so I dont feel emotions or show emotions I learned that the NRH was the only way to express my emotions My son bought a new car like a BMW or some fancy car like that and drove into the yard and came in and said "well dad what do you think of my new car" and I went out to look at it. And there was no emotion shown on my face when I was happy or sad about it and the only thing that my son could find out was was to say "well dad from 0-10 what do you think?" to say "well dad, from 0-10 what do you think?" and if I said 9 then he knows its good and if i said 2 then he knows its bad Its hard to show anything, does'nt make a difference wheter it's sad or hapiness it just does'nt come out of me I feel it inside but it just does'nt come out out through my face something else happens in my head and it just does'nt come out anymore, it just does'nt its a *** situation, but it jus does'nt happen Believe me I go through everyday as the person would do with a brain injury every single one of them from the wife to the children aswell feel the same suffering, the same pain as the person with the brain injury so it would be great if people could learn from this Life for people who aquire brain injury when they have one they dont forget that I know the only advice that I can give is don't lie down to it I know its easy to say don't lie down to it but my wife had to struggle for 6-8 months to get me into a hospital for the NRH and my own family stuck beside me the whole time and a person who has aquired brain injury does actually need a good kick up the behind to say get out there and get on with your life and do what you can and what you cannot do Its like me being in the garage working on a car, and when I get the car I might not be able to do it at least I can go out and try it and that's all I can do, and if I can't do it, ill have to try something else get some other thing in, maybe go into carpentry but keep trying and trying until you find something that you are capable of doing.
