When it comes to wall colors for a kitchen,
well, first it depends on the largest element in this space, which is usually
the cabinets
followed by the flooring and then the counters.
But let's run through some popular schemes. White cabinetry
with dark wood floors, like we have here. This color, Benjamin Moore's Candle
Charcoal
is a great color for a high contrast scheme.
Or, you could use a lovely soft pale gray,
a much lighter and airier look, but it still contrasts the cabinetry
just enough to keep it looking crisp and fresh. When it comes to picking a wall
color to complement wood cabinets like
maple, cherry, and oak, I like to
temper the warm undertones of the wood with cooler, nature inspired hues,
like Benjamin Moore's Pike's Peak Gray or
Horizon Gray. Now, with all the wear and tear that a kitchen takes and the
airborne smoke and grease, wash-ability and scrub-ability
are key. An ultra premium paint like Benjamin Moore's
Aura brings these features to all sheen levels
in all colors, so it isn't a must to go with a glossy sheen in the kitchen
anymore.
I like to leave the shine up to all those shiny appliances and stainless steel
that you typically see in today's kitchens.
Eggshell sheen is all you need for your kitchen walls
with the Aura line of paint.
