Ruling and opposition party lawmakers questioned the Cabinet about the government's economic
democratization policies on Wednesday.
These policies involve the creation of a fair business environment for both big and small
companies.
The parties discussed bills focused on ending unfair business practices by large companies
while protecting contractees and distributors.
Lawmakers clashed, however, over the content and scope of some of the economic democratization
policies, based on differences in their policy priorities.
The session also centered on President Park's creative economy initiative as well as the
government's roadmap to achieve a 70 percent employment rate.
Lawmakers said the government needs to come up with specific measures to foster a creative
economy,... which combines science, IT and communications technologies with other industries
and cultural content to create more jobs.
Government officials were also asked about how they plan to manage energy supply and
demand during the summer season.
The last session of the four-day government hearing is scheduled for Thursday and it will
focus on education, culture and social affairs.
