Hi! I'm Odane Allison. I'm twenty years of age. I'm an intern at the Planning Institute of Jamaica and a student of Caribbean Maritime,
where i'm currently pursuing a bachelor of science in International Shipping and Logistics.
I was the Head Boy and president for my alma mater Knox College,
where I taught guidance and couselling to students ages fifteen to nineteen for approximately two years.
I'm promoting family planning. Full Access, Full Choice, you should too.
There are two types of contraceptive methods: Temporary Spacing [and] Permanent/Terminal Methods.
Today i'm here to share with you the Barrier Method and other miscellaneous methods.
Male Condoms - The male *** is a form of barrier method.
Barrier methods include various brands of condoms both male and female
which are generally made of latex rubber. It is safe, simple and inexpensive.
Female condoms - This is generally made of polythene material and normally lines the wall of the ***.
Vaginal Diaphragm. This is a vaginal barrier made up of rubber or
plastic material which prevents *** from entering the uterus and should remain in place for at least 6 hours.
We also have Spermicides and Suppositories.
Spermicides are sometimes surface acting agents which adhere
to the spermatozoa, inhibit the oxygen supply and kill it.
Suppositories: These are mainly inserted inside the female and it kills the *** before it reaches the ***.
The vaginal ring is worn inside the *** and it should be changed every four weeks.
You know we've been talking [this 'n' that] everything about family planning, and we haven't mentioned the hormonal ones?
Hormone...Family Plan- Oh! You mean the Hormonal Contraceptive Method.
[That one.] Yes! It is almost 100% effective as a spacing method in contraception. Yes!
They are classified as 1. Oral Pills or [2.] Depot Formulations.
But you know, they have miscellaneous contraceptives too?
Yes it is Coitus interruptus and that is when the male withdraws from the female just before ***.
This is my family.
This is our family and I am the head of the household.
We plan for our child, you should too.
Now, with greater access to information, you can plan your family too.
Full Access, Full Choice!
