So my name's Niki Lawal and I'm a coach based in Canterbury and I have been with Ideal Weight
for about a year now. The best thing about my job really is working with my clients and
seeing them transform not only on the outside but in the inside also. I have the privilege
of working with and alongside some great coaches and some great clients and what they are doing
is learning to change their relationship with food to change their relationship with themselves
and yes fantastically to lose weight too. So the brilliant thing about Ideal Weight
really is about that support network accountability. A lot of clients and a lot of people I would
say, think and have the idea that it's easier if I do it myself. And actually that is the
hard way, doing it with a coach is the easiest way to do it and it's the most effective way.
As coaches we are there for them every single step of the way and whilst we are working
within a group setting they feel that they have an intensely personal relationship with
us as well so we're holding their hand through that journey giving them structured coaching
but we're also there as an empathetic partner for them to ensure that they achieve their
goals. We're weighing them, we're encouraging them, we're supporting them, we're challenging
them. Often my clients will say "I was thinking about not coming to group this week because
I hadn't followed the programme but I know this is the only way I'm going to keep going
so if I've slipped up, the best way for me to be successful and to well, just to be successful
is to go to group" and they also know that if they don't turn up, I'll know why they're
not there.
