Hi there, my name's Andy and I'm gonna show you the easiest two chords to play
on guitar
and then show you how to play them in a chord sequence so that you know how to
play along to any of the songs
that are on my web site already, and this is an example of an absolute first
lesson with me
you can use this video so that you know what guitar lessons are going to be like
or to get a head start before your first lesson with me
so let's look at our first chord which is an 'E major'
and lets get you in for a close-up
So here we are. I've moved the camera so that not only can you see my cool
Union Jack rug (which looks amazing) you can also see the guitar of from
your point of view this should be the angle that you're looking at your guitar from.
Here's a little bit on the anatomy; I'm gonna number the strings
1 through to 6; so that's from the thinnest
1 through to 6; so that's from the thinnest, to the thickest
I'm gonna number your frets 1, 2
and 3.
Open strings are considered to be 0 zero fret
I am I'm gonna get you to put your first finger
on the third-string inside that first fret
So thats string 1,2..3. String 3
and position wise you want to stay on the tips
of your fingers and you wanna be
at your side above the fret so the fret (even though the fret is
technically the metal strip that goes down)
Fret 1 is this an area here the wooden part, of your fret board,
and you want to put you first finger at
this side of this area, the side closest to you.
kinda next to, or against the metal fret
So that's where your first finger goes. Middle finger..
2nd fret on the 5th string. And 3rd finger...
directly underneath that middle finger
so that will be on the 4th string also second fret.
So, if we do those three again we have; one
two... and three
And, if you push those down with the tips of the fingers
kinda make a nice arch shape with your hand
kinda like a claw I guess (for want of a better term)
Now press those down, and strum
every string with your right hand
and that's what your first chord should sound like.
Both these want to be at your side
of the fret here, if it's over this side
it might still ring out just about
but you'll have to press down significantly harder
to get this note to ring out if you press over here
you most likely be very surprised by how much you don't have to press down
and it still rings now
and sounds great. If I play that same correct chord
but I'm over this site it is acquiring out an impression on the same
announcement over this
and I should first course now is that same cause from another angle
his IP course sound like
and the first thing goes on the first rights
third-string so one 23 and this is also the third
string that weighs and call out how wound string
so you've got two strings that I like cheese liar
and then he should have three bronze Iqaluit also
the coolest readings with on a metal wrapped around them and
that's the first long days wound middle finger
on the fifth string at the second frets and anything is fingered I really
underneath
thats as fine I'm your little finger at coached against
your third finger I'm
just keeps make sure we know is doing its not kinda down here
its handed tho you wanna keep everything is close to this position
cameras making nice strong shape
okay a second course is gonna be in a
I'm gonna learn the second called from your first called which is an
E major so it's put my first cause
you think about where they were finished first coat one
to and three and an eighth
gates take the second and third fingers away and just keep that first finger
down
this first thing is going to be one with a call your I'm to finger
it's going to stay on this first string
and it's just going to slide across the 2nd fret this is so that the change will
be significantly easier
and you'll be able to remember because better so for the first three courts
which that we're going to learn that's not be
a and D this first finger is gonna stay
on this third string it's just gonna slide across like this
so this is where it was funny and the first finger
stays on the same string buddy school which is over
of slides over just inside the second fret nice OKC said
decided the frets for this one over the side because
we need to put your middle finger directly above its
and any third finger directly below it
so I've missed outs I'm not gonna says finger here kinda like what it was for
the
a movie 1 further down and the first thing get
is holding the note down in the space this is your
K cost on eight major on the second quarter with them today
and it should sound like
so first thing is on the same strain middle things just above its
I'm fish finger just below it
now on this for this a cause
and we're not going to strum this the case
the string I just want you to stream it
from the fifth string all the way down to the fittest
will get into how's and why's later but just take it from me now that it just
sounds better
in my opinion
we've got this load strain the is
kinda spun in the corner little bit
I wanted and to be the stickiest
a string good on
just the show bit reason why that sounds better than one us know when you do
and this is your open a string which is the root note on the base notes up this
a caught
VA major and that's why we have that one as you think his lawn
we want so I'm world go back
so the easy chords same method as
keep the first finger damn scooted back to that first finger
first fret an instrument
one more time to the acorns first finger stays down
slide it over to second frets middle finger and fish finger middle finger to
both
third finger below and strum
sounds great
second course first fan get
stays on the same freddie was too come away slide it just over the threats
middle finger to book third finger to billow
consumed from that it's free
spread I'm can be quite hard to get the middle one rainy now so can you
say right on the TicketCity finger
good everything incised the second fret here so
0 loan to
should course first finger stays down
slide it back streaming he called
*** stays down switches over to the second France
middle finger both third finger below
and strong
you may also see this cause written down value
may have learned say as kind of three in a row like this
this way to learn in a is absolutely fine it's not something you don't follow
boats if you struggle changing between
be and the a organ a salir de
on if you still with any of the core changes when you try and play this
some I recommend that you go for this a
I've talked with you today because
the idea of using this fingering is this listing stays down
the on the next call that you doing the course which is a D
Andy it just gives you that I'm components
and saves you me take you know you think is the day and then thinking
these go lost my reference point
I so now you need to call us how do we play songs with them
we need to know about bars and peace yeah
of Holtby's in Obama and
beat Space up close to you and kinda music
so if you're tapping your foot to a song
all you've seen are you clapped along too bands
as that plane champ motion you're clapping along to the beach
oh you're nodding your head to be so if I play this
polls now
is the beats and and we played upbeat
account to follow for example
know it's some plan the mall too early even
with and even spacing between e2 the storms
if place some so I'm
some weekend it's impossible to not be fully on OJ had to it because there's no
rhythms need to keep everything
so silly even so anytime just still belong to me
now playing so three fall 3
Paul you
so a code sequence is
plane a certain course for a certain amount of time them plan another
of a certain amount of time for example this Islamabad
he looks like on this is what one body
and then one bonnet a looks like went with him
on sheet paper and this is what I should sound like
for example you could just two one strom at the start to the spa salon the first
80s to 3 10
do 3 fall
3 and do me
mom I'll be for the chord sequences both and as funny as long as the happen line
of the song example a line to give my students
to get them playing along to a record as soon as we can is
ask for what it's worth bibles book full of Springfield's
which was Neil Young's wristband I'm
so as a bit Rockies before you I'm
so if we play this code sequence belongs to me
you'll be able to do it along to the record as well
and ice once only about you can play along to a song with
so get ready with your first course that the major
give it a strom to
be man
3 full new 3
mall
3 so that's just really one strom
Obama was fun you've got a new chord sequence
is very handy and just allows you to get all your chord changes
and face you know what's gonna happen later on I'm
it does sound rather learn the hard courts
it sounds much better certainly early it on if we can get more stormy and
so when you learn a new song just play it warm
stumper Bob but once you go up because changes on the thing is in a little bit
more comfortable
default to plain on the beats if you can play on that pulls
you top UK said and clap your hands through it was being played Live
five-month
and you'll be able to play along to the record
which is such an important skills to be able to do
many people who get a such a high level on the top still come join into that
favor records
all play along to the rock riffs that no
onto the Mac or so that is there is a skill that
and I want you to be able to do it straight away even in this first lesson
something account UN on the way to this time
songs the other woman's okay I see strom
along to that beats ready to
3 full 3
fan game
soon me
dichotomy he
and game finish on 83
long
beautiful if you can do that then you can put that record on
or YouTube that song at Buffalo Springfield's is the name of the band
for what it's worth is the name of the song and it will sound great
I if you so wish we can have a little jam now
housing a little bit for you and we can
we can buy see other OKC ready from you he called from the office call that we
did
one to 3 law 3
dance months time
feedback I'm
minded
guys
biggest you stop should life that's now
money
yeah
of our time
and hands on
NAIA and Stoller beautiful
should I sounded greats and if that wasn't a level
let you can get to he could join in simi then go back
and change between just 18 and day
make sure you change is absolutely solid
and you can also just left onto the record just within
e-course just the kinda get used to playing along to the be
its some people its most faithful with the novice
so if you play toughest Cody cause
you can stay on the office call us just homes
financing and examine the same season one
C
or one new 3 long
in the mines I E count out loud if you want
and you can even try not count them as well so try n
trying just feel left for a razor or just count not that long maybe Cisco
but at the end to the day the acid test
is can you do this along to the right coast put this on on
and strum along its a county south end and storm along just to
3 follow and stop playing if it sounds good on to the REC cost then you know is
doing it rights
I'm so have fun with that and I hope to see if relate to lessen
