Hello this is David from GeekThis.Net Today I am going to walk you through how to
use FileZilla First off, FileZilla is a free to use, Open
Source, FTP Client It lets you upload and download files from
FTP servers and SFTP Servers. So, to begin, the first two bars we see are
the actions and controls. We have "File", so you can go to Site Manager,
Open New Tabs, and normal File stuff. Edit, which has Settings.
View to change the layout of the whole program. Transfer to start transferring and change
more settings. Server, Bookmarks and Help.
The second one has the same things, but an easy to use toggle menu.
This button is very useful; it lets you reconnect to your last folder and server you were connected
to. Under that you have the "Quick Connect", so
you just enter the FTP Server, Username and Password, so you can easily connect to a server
without going through the Site Manager Under that you have the status log. This tells
you when you are connecting to servers if there are any issues. It is the FTP Protocol
going through this. Below that on the left side, is the tree for
the Local folders. So you can navigate to all the files you need.
Under that, are the files in that folder that you have selected.
To the right is the remote files. And above that is the remote file tree.
Below all of that is the Queue. These are the files that are going to be uploaded or
downloaded. If they fail, they go to this. Which you can
easily re-attempt to upload or download them. And all the successful ones are in the next
one. To add a new site to FileZilla you go to the
Site Manage, which is the first button. Now you add your new sites.
You add the host. The logon type, which is Normal. Unless you want to make it so you
always have to type in the password.
And then once that's done... You can rename the site, so you can easily
find it again. Then you press "Ok" Now if you ever want to connect to it, next
to the site manager you see the drop down. You can easily see "Sample".
Then we will just clear the log. So that's how you use FileZIlla. Once you
are connected to a server though. You can drag files over from Local to Remote.
And you just navigate around the File tree.
