The course setup guide
in Blackboard Learn nine point one service pack eight.
The course setup guide in this version of Blackboard
pops up when you first enter a shell,
and provides you with some information and some support
in beginning to develop your course.
To see this in action, let's enter a course in Blackboard Learn nine point one service pack eight.
And we'll see, immediately, the Quick Setup Guide.
The first thing you're prompted to do is give your course or
allowed to do
is to change the name of your course if you wish,
and to add or edit a description.
Once you've done that,
you can go to the second step in the course
setup Wizard.
Choose a course structure.
For more information on course structures,
please see our tutorial on Course Structures.
You can then choose a course theme.
We've also covered that in another tutorial.
And finally,
you can get help
in using different parts and tools within your
course. For instance, if you want to know about the course menu.
there's a nice help screen on that.
If you want to know about how to set content availability,
a very important issue,
there's a help screen on that,
and other possibilities as well.
When you're done with the
Quick Setup Guide,
you can select this box here
which
prevents this quick setup guide from popping up every time you go into the course henceforth.
You can, however, always bring it back up, if you wish,
by going to the control panel
and customization and selecting the Quick Setup Guide.
Once you're done, you simply click "Apply Changes",
and you're ready to continue developing your course.
