Church Life Research
This is the story of a very different night in the life of this newcomer to the church.
Tonight is the night he promised to go to church with his friend.
Someone who is not even close to him convinced him to go.
He just decided to go for the heck of it.
Thanks to drinking buckets of alcohol the previous night, he doesn't feel so good.
[Ring]
Friend: Yo, ma ninja eggroll. Come to church, foo'
Isaac: Aight, ninja.
He has now arrived at church with his friend.
The church people's facial expression seems to reflect some kind of stank barfed up in this place.
He doesn't feel so cool now. He considers just going home.
He chooses to stay for the food afterwards that his friend told him about earlier.
He decides to just be chill and sit down.
As he is deep in thought, everyone starts to sing praise songs.
The person next to him sings loud enough to burst their vocal chords.
What the deuce?
They probably all practiced this.
He feels left out.
He doesn't know the song but starts singing louder than everyone else around him.
He doesn't know what the lyrics mean but it sounds good.
He continues singing along.
After praise, the pastor comes out and gives a sermon.
[Bling]
Now he wonders if this is actually a Buddhist temple.
Maybe he sang too hard during praise. He is getting sleepy.
Ah, ah.
His friend hints at him to stay awake.
He thinks, "Imma do whateva" and decides to just sleep.
A long period of time passes.
As he opens his eyes, his friend tells him to wake up. He shakes himself awake.
They said they are now welcoming newcomers.
He checks for any drool on his mouth. It's all good.
People stare at him. He stares back at everyone.
Oh, there is one pretty girl looking at him.
She welcomes him. Holla.
They exchanged phone numbers. He then received a welcoming prayer.
He now feels all happy and satisfied.
After the service ends, all the church members go somewhere.
They say they are going to eat now. He feels enthusiastic at the thought of getting free food.
[Whoa, food.]
He enters the room next door to get some food.
Nice, the seat next to the pretty girl is open.
He goes to sit next to her. She looks back at him smiling.
What the fruit loop?
They say that the newcomer should eat with the pastor.
They give him a lot of food and take care of him. He feels thankful. This is the side dish he likes.
He tries to eat quickly but the pastor asks his name again, among other things.
Pastor: How you git here? What you do? Which school? How old you is?
What is this? He can't tell if he swallowed the food with his throat or his nostrils.
[Small Group]
They say they're having small group now.
He feels like the outcast and doesn't feel like going, but he has a sense of honor.
He ate the food too so he decides to participate in the small group.
The people in the small group now feel like family.
The person next to him asks his name again.
He has no idea why they keep asking his name if they can't even remember it.
Everyone shares what they did and how they spent their previous week.
The conversations are not like the dirt digging sessions at the *** chugging event yesterday night.
The people here seem to be talking about their lives. The atmosphere is soothing and wholesome.
Everyone talks about this individual named "God". He started getting curious about "God" as well.
He thinks it was a good idea to come to church with his friend tonight.
When small group ends, the group leader says he looks forward to meeting again next week.
He says, "Fasho."
The pretty girl from before prepared leftovers for him.
He has one less meal to worry about. Koo, better come next week too.
