Beit Shmuel is a place which serves a number of purposes -
it is a place of study, lectures take place here,
there is a conference hall, as well as an hotel,
there is a theatre which hosts various types of shows,
exhibitions are on display in the theater lobby,
and are changed every six weeks.
I am a member of the papercutters organization -
which comprises a few women who have decided to hold
some sort of joint activity
involving papercutting.
The chair of the papercutters organization turned to me,
it's a relatively new organization,
bringing together various artists who work with papercutting,
which is something exceptional,
because this form of art was thought to be almost extinct -
it almost disappeared in WW II
I really identify with the message which is conveyed through "Song of Songs",
and I truly identify with this
expression of love and connection
and how this connection is composed
both of distance and closeness, and of a myriad of mutual experiences
So lovely! - I really love it
It's happy and optimistic
Yes, so lovely! It's really very beautiful.
Thank you so much!
I came across Ayala's work on the internet
And I loved her work at first sight
because of its buoyancy, airiness and optimism
the spirit of the land of israel threaded within,
the additional colorfulness,
the choice of color is not arbitrary but was chosen painstankingly
thus turning these into drawings of sorts rather than mere papercuttings
In a way it continues traditional Diaspora Jewish papercuttings -
but in a new spirit, a spirit which is more...
light and optimistic, and exists in real life too I hope!
