It wasn't even that long ago that I got my hands
on this junk: "Predators"
"DNA Fusion". Actually, it was my first
video, I'll put a link to it up there.
Simba probably thought
"it worked the first time, it'll work again"
Kids are dumb nowadays anyway, and so ...
"Predasaurs: Insect Invasion"
Good Lord.
What's this now? Dinosaurs, obviously.
You can always use dinosaurs, and instead of
human DNA, these mixed with insect DNA, and what do we get?
Glow in the dark teeth? Again?!
They don't fit it's maw again, great.
But we also get "weapons in cool metallic colors", that's nice.
And even more, this time, there's a helmet too, which is awesome!
There are 24 of these things,
"Predasaurs" and "Insectasaurs".
However, they all look pretty much
the same - I can barely make out a difference,
except that one has a scorpid tail, for example.
But all in all, this DNA fusion stuff seems to be quite a failure.
However, there's a new leader, "Vulltarex".
He's the "mightiest of all Predasaurs".
I think there was another one before, but
then, they weren't called "Predasaurs"
but just "Predators" back then.
This blind bag contains one figure,
said helmet, two weapons, because
one wasn't enough. You might remember they didn't fit the hands,
and I doubt it'll work better if they just
put in a second weapon that also doesn't fit.
One leaflet, and the usual collector's card which is likely
to be so messed up you can't use it anyway.
Great job, Simba, just great!
Let's have a look ...
Doesn't this have an opener? It does.
Collector's leaflet, good.
(laughs) What did I say? The collector's card is
in such bad shape you can't do anything with it. Great!
We've got a "Kuruma". What does he look like?
Wow!
What did I say about teeth not fitting the maw? Hmm.
It'll be a tight fit, very tight indeed.
That aside, I have the feeling the quality has actually
improved slightly over the old ones. These are even painted,
and I can
actually say that
these do look quite good. Weren't there supposed to be weapons? Yeah.
And a helm. Wow, that helmet looks quite
fantastic, doesn't it?
But how will it fit?
This makes little sense ...
Huh?
Like that? Maybe?
Or like that?
Uh ... ah, now I got it!
Well ... I wouldn't know what to do
with them in the first place, but there you go.
Here we have a
very prehistoric club
which gets to be mounted using the usual nub
and will most likely fall out of the hand ...
actually, this time, it doesn't. He looks rather aggressive now.
And what's that?
Okay ...
No idea, some sort of twin blade.
But I wouldn't know where to put it.
Oh!
It's supposed to go on the tail!
Let's see.
Yeah ... yep!
A tail weapon.
And that's how he looks ...
with a stupid grin on his face ... or no, he's actually screaming.
And attacking me with his club.
I don't know ...
no matter what they make, it always looks a bit odd to say the least.
Let's see ...
Oh yeah, "Vulltarex, rare Predasaur".
Good for him.
But we didn't get that one, instead we got ... hmm ...
what was his name again?
"Kuruma", yeah, I couldn't remember that.
"Kuruma" ... is a "Predasaur" and no "Insectosaur". Fair enough.
And well, he looks quite like he does on the picture.
"It's an old tradition amongst warriors"
"to gear themselves before battle." Well, I didn't
see that coming! Unfortunately enough,
the weapons don't look quite as nice as on the picture.
No sign of gold at all,
it looks more like copper or something.
Maybe that's more prehistoric, I don't know.
"The mightiest weapon sets are a privilege"
"of the tribe leaders." Yeah, that's usually the case.
Ah, "Tribal Crystals", "Collect all 25"
"warriors", right, it's not 24
they are 25, as I forgot "Vulltarex"
but he's rather forgettable alright.
Hmm, "Tribal imprint"?
"Take note of the unique tribal imprints"
"each warrior leaves behind and"
"prepare yourself for the dangers of the island."
Of what island?
And what are "tribal imprints"? Oh ...
they actually have ...
"unique tribal imprints" on the soles of their feet.
I can't make out what it is ...
but ...
yeah ...
it's a "C", like
this here.
"Creta-"
"ceous" or somesuch nonsense. Great.
And here we can read ....
many many words explaining the whole background story.
Great, and there's a trading card game I will not get myself involved with.
And of course, it's still about "DNA Fusion" because what else could it be about?
I actually have another one ...
here he is ... he's an "Insectorsaur".
Looks a bit better than
the other, doesn't it? I mean,
he looks kind of ... hmm ...
well, just better.
But the most interesting part is that I have one of
the old ones to compare.
A difference like night and day, isn't it?
The old ones look really amateurish,
I mean, REALLY REALLY amateurish, with their rubber teeth.
Here they even
bothered with shading the paint on the teeth.
And the weapons actually fit the hands a bit better.
It all feels slightly more professional.
That's some progress at least.
However, I still don't have the slightest idea what to do with them,
except for making them fight on video, like I did the
last time already, so I'm not going to do that again.
Well.
Not much more to say about them
except that I'd like Simba to
release the next batch as "Predafusion Insect Dinosaurs".
Or something like that.
I'm sure they'll find something
and even add some fantastic background story to it.
That's all for now, see you next time!
Oh, I totally forgot: what's their natural habitat?
The box, of course.
Off you go then! Until next time!
