So now that we got some different voicings down, and we're utilizing the scale in different
ways, what we can do is take these chord voicings and break them up and try to use them melodically.
So, let's say take a look at my D flat block chord, right, one, three, five, seven. So
now if I want to take this melodically, so now I did one, three, five, seven, and then
I did a chromatic note down to six, see how nice that sounded? So now I have a melody
line which I derived out of this chord. Or say, E flat minor.
Or if you have a voicing say like this. So by limiting to yourself, to just those four
notes, it really gives you a unique sound within the scale, and it really helps to pull
it out. So again, in your solo you don't have to play every note of every scale for every
chord, you just have to play a couple, so, you can use these new hip voicings or the
voicings you like, and outline them melodically, and it works like a charm. And don't feel
like you can't throw some chromatic notes in there too.
