So a lot of people have been asking me
on Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, email
HOW DID I LEARN KOREAN?
So instead of just telling you guys,
why don't I just show you!?
Do you want to see?
Let's go to my Korean School.
So right now, we are in the heart of Gangnam!
Here we are!
There's no elevator~~
This sign says,
It means, "If you learn Korean, then you see Korea."
It's true!
The more you learn Korean, the more you understand Korea and the culture.
It's a totally different experience.
DERP FACE
So this is my school~~
It looks small, but there's actually two floors.
There are quite a few teachers who work here.
There's a painted tree!!!
This is our receptionist. She's really nice.
I have class right now, but after class,
I'll fill you in a little bit more about what I do
and all of that wonderful things? stuff? things?
SO GOOD!
So I just finished my class and eating.
I've been going to this school for 2 years.
When I first started coming here, I took a class.
I took all the classes here and then I started doing private lessons.
There were no more classes for me to take.
I started doing 1-1 with my teacher.
What we do is, I bring in stuff that I want to learn or that I need help with.
My Korean is not perfect. I'm not fluent.
I'm pretty good. I'm okay, but there's still a lot that I need to learn.
She fixes a lot of my mistakes and teaches me new things.
When we first started off, we started acting.
If you look at my youtube, I uploaded some videos of me doing some acting.
I did it for fun and to improve my pronunciation.
So we started doing acting first and then I started to write the comedy scripts.
She checks those. That's what we're doing now...STILL.
I'm writing scripts and then she corrects them for me,
gives me suggestions, all those kinds of things.
So I just finished my script.
YOU CAN'T SEE!!!
I come here once a week to see her for 1 hour.
But if I have some interview or meeting in Korean, I come here a lot more to prepare.
I actually get really really anxious when I speak in Korean on TV or a business meeting.
I get really really anxious.
I come here and I just practice things that I want to say or just practice speaking Korean
or just studying Korean in general.
Sometimes I'll come here 3 times a week and sit in this room by myself.
And just study HARD by myself.
Or sometimes, to be honest, I come here and I'm like,
"I'm gonna study soooo hard,"
and then I fall asleep.
It happens.
This is kind of a well known school.
If you know the K-pop group NU'EST, Aron used to go here.
But I don't know if he still does.
And then Brad from Busker Busker, he used to go here too.
And I actually ran into him one time in the elevator
which was terribly awkward, because I said something really stupid.
Also, I go to this school, and so...you know...
Yeah..
For those of you who want to learn Korean,
self-studying is good and self-studying helps a lot, but
there's no way I could be as good at Korean as I am now if I didn't go to a school.
I absolutely recommend going to school over anything else!
This is not an everyday school.
For me, it's just once a week.
Like, just meeting with a teacher has helped me so much.
Or, come 3 times a week.
Just ANYTHING!!!
Definitely recommend taking a class.
I started off taking classes in the US.
I studied Korean before I came to Korea.
I came to Korea and I'm taking classes here.
I am not stopping studying.
Not stopping studying? Maybe I should study English too.
Man, I shouldn't have drank that Coke. My stomach is hurting!
Are you serious??? NOW!?
If you have more questions about how I learned Korean,
just ask me on Facebook. Ask me on Facebook please. That's the best way.
Time to go!!!
I need to calm down.
