Welcome! These are some notes that were news during the third week of August.
Google buys Motorola! The news impacted the financial and technology worlds.
The markets response was mix. Speculations about the real reason for this purchase started right away.
At the end, the reason that prevailed was that:
the number of patents bought by Google by buying Motorola was way bigger than
the one bought by a consortium formed by Apple, Microsoft, and RIM.
But, the reality is that for Google this is just the first step to…
Conquer the whole world! Ha, ha, ha!
Wait… YouTube belongs to Google right? I’m just kidding!
In Venezuela, president Hugo Chávez said that
he has the intentions of returning to the country whatever gold is deposited in foreign banks.
The reason behind this decision is the diversification of the Venezuelan’s Federal Reserve.
I believe he forgot to say: My precious!
In Canada, unfortunately, a student fell into the Niagara River
and was dragged by the Niagara Falls.
Authorities believe that the cause of death could be drowning.
And here I though that brilliant police was exclusive to Mexico.
In Germany, authorities said that Facebook violates the European Union’s privacy laws.
So you mean that talking behind someone’s back and lying about their life should be considered as a crime?!
Oh come on! Don’t you see that some people become famous because of that!
Otherwise, they would be asking for money in the streets!
Speaking of Facebook. The British government had say that they would deactivate this website
with the sole purpose of stopping the riots that started in London.
At the end, the British Prime Minister declared that
what happened in the United Kingdom is the result of a slow moral collapse.
Which is being feed by irresponsibility, egocentrism, kids without parents,
education without real discipline, big earnings that don’t reflect the effort invested,
crimes going unpunished, the assumption of rights without the related responsibilities,
bottom line, the lack of control in the community. No way? Really? But, is it just in England?
On August 18 I saw one of my favorite shows in television,
the ceremony of the “Do Something” awards from the network VH1
It was filled with inspiration and emotion!
To watch so many people taking matters into their own hands,
helping the disable and the less fortunate was really inspirational!
Each one of them is making a difference, from their own personal perspective,
among youngsters and adults alike, in their communities and around the world.
Congratulations!
But, I have a question.
What do we need in Mexico to make the difference in our own communities?
I’m a firm believer that it is time to take
a more definitive protagonist role in the change that the country needs.
A lot of people are concerned and worried about the number of deaths along the US-Mexican border,
about the discrimination suffered by the illegal immigrants,
they worry about the incredible journey and the stories told by these people
who are looking to give their children a better quality of life.
But, how many times have we organized events to improve schools in rural zones?
Or to mobilize the State Representatives to do their job!
Or to make the Federal, State and local Government,
either one of them or all of them, work for the citizens and not the other way around!
But, the most important issue,
is to improve the living conditions of the less fortunate
so, they don’t have to look anywhere else for what it is a right earned by being born in Mexico,
to have the chance to give their sons the best in a dignified way!
Please, let’s start doing something!
Please write about what is the best way to start helping our communities and our people, in the comments below.
I will make the compromise to look for donations and help here
so we can start by helping one community
and to give the best possible education to those children.
Thanks for watching! See you next time!
