I'm Kristal Montgomery, freshman
I am a social science and education major.
I want to teach kids about World War II.
music
I was born and raised in California.
Three years ago I moved to Colorado
and fell in love with it
And so I guess I still do live in California
I have family that live there.
But I live in Colorado too.
I wasn't planning on coming to Union,
I come from a small school,
there were 17 kids in my graduating class.
I didn't want to go where everyone else was going,
and a lot of people were coming here.
When I came here for
preview days it just worked for me.
I could see myself here,
and I couldn't do that any where else.
So here I came
My favorite hobby to do around
campus is probably socializing.
Which I know is a little cliche
but I love making new friends
and I can make a new friend everyday.
And I love doing it
I can really focus in on what I love,
and I love history.
And I know that the more I stay here,
the more I will know about it.
I get to have classes that are all history classes
or all somehow based around history.
One of my favorite times in history is World War II,
on the two sides of it there's like good and bad.
When you learn about it
you are really rooting for one thing to happen
instead of the other,
it makes you happy when you go through it
to learn that good prevails.
My favorite teacher at Union College
would probably be Ben Tyner.
He reminds me very much of my
high school history teacher,
who actually inspired me
to go into history education.
I love his style,
I love it since he is younger
he has sort of a fresh take on things.
It's very easy to relate to him.
I think what's cool about Union
is it defies expectation.
There's no stereotype,
it's got a little bit of everything.
My name is Kristal Montgomery
and to me Union College
is a fruit salad.
It's got a little bit of everything here
and it melts into this deliciousness
that's good for you.
