This is the RED Epic that has been around longer than the Sony F55 and the Canon C500.
It's a bit of a workhorse in terms of dramas, films, and commercials. In its current configuration
it's still relatively compact. You have the side handle on the front in case you need
to strip it down. It's also completely removable. We tend to go with the top bar just for eased
of mounting. In terms of battery plates: there's loads of clear points.
The camera itself is very limited in terms of power outs on the actual brain and body.
This is part of the compromise for making a small and compact camera.
Obviously it has only one output on the brain at the moment, you can buy other modules to
stick on the back, and it's still one of the highest resolution cameras. It only shoots
RAW 5K 96 frames maximum. The new range is due imminently. It will also give us a 30%
increase in frame rates. It's tried and tested on lots of things. It delivers high quality.
It's very solid
and reliable camera.
