>> In addition to organizing, editing, and sharing your pictures, Picasa now lets you
quickly and easily add name tags to your photos. Based on the same technology that powers face-tagging
on Picasa web albums, Picasa creates group of photos organized by what matters most:
people. When you first launch Picasa 3.5, it will
automatically start scanning your photos for faces.
You can immediately start tagging the faces it finds by clicking at a name under a picture
and typing a name. Make sure you're signed into your Google account
so the names auto-complete with your Google contacts.
When you add a name tag, a new album is created in the People collection, and you can toggle
between the zoomed in faces and the full pictures. Picasa shows an orange question mark when
it finds additional faces that might match the ones you've already tagged.
Click the check button to confirm the face suggestions one at a time or all at once.
If you're in a typical photo album, you can always add name tags using the People panel.
After you've added some name tags, you can use the people albums you've created to find
all the pictures of two or more people in the same photograph.
Or create a face collage with just one click. And, of course, you can upload and share a
whole person's album to Picasa web. Any name tags you add in Picasa are automatically
carried to Picasa Web albums, when you upload. If you've previously added name tags online,
you can easily download these to Picasa as well.
In addition to name-tagging, we've also integrated Google Maps to make geo-tagging your photos
easier. And we've redesigned the Import room to make
it easier to share more photos with more people. You can star your favorites, upload them to
Picasa web albums, and share them with your google contact groups, all during the import
from your camera or memory card. To get started with Picasa 3.5 for PC or Mac,
