I'm Chris Shattuck and this is "How to Create and Edit Content". In this chapter, we're
going to create several pieces of content and set the default homepage. Along the way,
we'll talk about URL aliases and also how weights work and then we'll wrap up with an
overview of the module listing page.
In the last chapter, we reviewed some mockups and begin to make our Drupal site look like
the mockups, by first uploading a logo and then removing the site name which appeared
in the header. And in this next chapter, we're going to continue this process starting by
changing the name in the browser title bar.
The way that we adjusted the previous two settings was by clicking on "Appearance" in
the menu bar and adjusting the theme settings for our front end theme. The way that we change
the site name however is going to be a little different because this is something that impacts
our entire site. Not just the look and feel but some other functional aspects of the site
as well.
And the first place to look for global settings like this is in "Configuration", clicking
on "Configuration" and then once you're on this page, going to the "Site information"
link. Now if you read the description here, it says "Change site name, e-mail address,
slogan, default front page and number of post per page, error pages". So there's several
things we can do on this page.
Let's go ahead and click "Site information". Ok. The very first item here is "Site name".
And you can see here that it's "loc dot magnifascent dot com", which is exactly what we have in
the title bar for our browser. So let's go ahead and change this to our company name
which is "MagnifAscent LLC".
And let's go ahead and scroll down to the bottom. And save this form.
Now when you look in the browser title bar, you see "MagnifAscent LLC". And if we go back
to the homepage, I'm going to go ahead and click the homepage link, you'll see in the
title it says "Welcome to MagnifAscent LLC". So we changed it in both places by changing
that one setting.
