Hello I'm Michael DeMaria, Director Product Management at Azima DLI
I am excited to share the first look at our newest product line. Our goal is to have three
different tablet controllers to go with the TRIO product line. The CA6 and CX7 will still
be offered and just to remind you where we are, this is a seven inch LCD screen. This
is resistive touch, meaning requires resistive feedback. I can touch this with just about
anything, pen, plastic stylus, etc. The CX7 and CA6 on this platform is IP65, there are
two ports that are waterproof, two ports on other side not waterproof. There are two types
of batteries on the back, standard six hour and extended. This will still be in product
line as we move into next year. Time to start thinking about refreshing it.
And it is perfect opportunity because we have two new devices that we are introducing.
The first one looks very much the same except it is ten inch. This is the CX10 or CA10.
This is a ten inch ruggedized tablet. It has similar ports. It has two waterproof ports
on one side and non-waterproof on the other. There are some new improvements on the 10,
where it has again an LED screen, widescreen display, five megapixel camera on the back
as opposed to two megapixels on the CX7. It also has a 1.3 megapixel front facing web camera on the front if you choose to use that.
The big difference between the 7 and 10, aside from the fact that it's a ten inch device, is that it has just
one very large battery in the back. Even still it is thinner and actually about the same
weight as the 7. The CX7 is 2.2 pounds, this is just 2.9 pounds. So just a little bit heavier,
but a lot bigger. It has just one battery, but that one battery has the same capacity as the CX7.
So on the CX10 we have a six hour normal battery. There is an extended battery you can get which
is a twelve hour battery. Added to that it is hot-swappable. There is an internal battery
inside that will maintain the charge while you hot swap these batteries. For those in the field
that need a very long day of work with their data collector, this is the one to go with. If you are thinking about replacing your CX 7 for a new demo device
this is the one I recommend. It is very showable, it's not too heavy, very functional, has a nice brilliant 10" display.
It has all the features and function that anybody would want in a product line and it shows
very, very well. So this is our newest addition to the TRIO family.
There is another, and there is a market for this I think. We did a bunch of surveys and
went through a bunch of field trials. And one of the other devices we are offering is
a very small, durable device. This is IP-52 rated, as opposed to IP-65 we have with the
CX7 and CX10. IP-52, this is similar to the tablets on the market. Very thin like tablets
on the market, extremely light. For comparison, an I-pad is IP-45, this is IP-52.
If you need to be in a very dirty or dusty or wet environment I would not recommend this one, there are vents
that go right through the device and out through the back. It is not going to hold up very
well in very industrial environments. It is sealed; there are no batteries you can swap in the back. For customers that
want a long day of work of collecting data, this is going to be a little tougher. We are
getting about seven hours of useful life in these batteries which most people would find
adequate. Our field technicians prefer a little bit longer, but they also found out this has
a rapid charger in it. So if you are in the field and you break for lunch, you charge
this while you are eating, an hour later you are almost at 100% again. I think full charge
on this I think only takes two hours to get this device to full charge. So at a lunch
break, easy to get a full day of use out of this tablet.
Again, this is 10.1 inch just like the CX10, but the CX8 or CA8 is a ten inch device at
a durable level. Again, there is a market for this type of tablet. I think a lot of
people would see this realize this is a very light, easy tablet they can take around with them.
The feedback that we received from our beta
testing has been very positive. A lot of people were hesitant about taking something so light
into their plant but realized that the gorilla glass that is on the display, the ability
to put it into a case and carry it around the plant very easily, the device works extremely well.
The big advantage to the CX8 or CA8 is that
this is a multi-touch, capacitive touch screen. So unlike the CX10 or CX7 which is a resistive
touch, meaning you need to use a plastic pen or fingernail or finger, this is capacitive touch.
It is actually a little smarter than that. It will recognize whether or not you
want to use a stylus or your finger or another capacitive touch. You can set between to only
recognize the stylus pen or only recognize your finger. There is a stylus attached to
the side. It is very similar for those familiar with the DCX or DCA-60. It has a battery inside
it. You can actually replace the battery. You can use it as a stylus. In environments
where people are struggling with the CX7 or CX10 where the device might recognizes finger presses,
this one you can set so it only recognize the stylus. People who like the DCX most were
the ones who said when they walk around the plant, they could bump into things it not
going to go into some location in ExpertALERT or the collector software on its own. You
can do that with this one because you can set to only use the stylus pen. Some nice
advantages of the CX8 versus the other two. The disadvantage is that it is quite light,
and only durable. But outside that I think a lot of people will be happy with this as
a platform. There are carrying cases and options for it. You can setup the carrying case that
comes with the 8. It is a smart case, there is a kick stand so you can set it on your
desk. You can remove it. There is a cover on the front. You can carry it around the
plant. There is a zippered pouch on the front so if you want to carry around a Bluetooth
keyboard, that will just slide in there. It is a very smart carrying option. Makes it
very, very convenient for a lot of people to go around and set up machines.
The CX10 we don't plan on putting in 10 inch devices into a pouch on the belt like
we did with the 6 or 7. This has a hand strap, there is a shoulder strap that connects to
it. Like the other 10 we expect you to wear it over the shoulder when you are in the plant.
As always there is a courier bag you can take with you. The courier bag has been redesigned
so you can easily take the 10 inch tablets with you. They are expandable. Same for the
hard case, it has been made universal. The same hard case that is used for the 7 also
fits the 10 and fits the 8. There are inserts that make it adaptable for your particular
platform. The rest of the device, the DP-1, the tachometer,
the sensor can either be stored in the courier bag or worn on the belt. That is the safest
option that we have seen in the field. Thanks for watching.
