Ni hao, and welcome to another episode of NYum!
Today, here we are at Xi'an's Famous Food on St. Marks
and this is Cassidy who is going to be here to test the food with us.
Hi!
Let's go inside!
Xi'an Famous Foods serves up traditional dishes that originate from the city of Xi'an—China's
ancient capital.
In recent years, the restaurant's original Chinatown location has been joined by venues
in Brooklyn, Queens, Midtown Manhattan, as well as here on Saint Mark's Place.
Everyone from Anthony Bourdain to Andrew Zimmerman has made a pilgrimage, and the restaurant
enjoys a turnout from healthy numbers of tourists and regulars alike.
The most popular dishes here are the spicy, Savory Cumin Lamb Burgers, which I opt for,
and Liang Pi—"Cold Skin" wheat noodles which Cassidy orders in soup.
Yum!
It's good. It's spicy, but it's not so spicy that it's overwhelming.
Yeah and it's very affordable, and it's like a different type of chinese. Not like the
usual General Tso's chicken. It's like a new spicier, tastier, chinese food.
Yeah.
I think we have to say that at some point.
Well it's true!
Yeah!
I'll say it genuinely!
So, whatcha think?
Oh I thought it was great. It was really authentic, homemade, and flavorful, but it was also something
new and it was a lot of food for not a lot of money!
I'd definitely go back!
I'd definitely come back too
and like Cassidy said it's really cheap, and it's really close to campus.
So, thank you Cassidy!
Yeah!
