In Silicon Valley,
No need to be a computer genious to succeed.
And the simplest ideas are often the best.
This afternoon, it is almost a move for Laetitia and her team.
- That's it
- Where are we going ?
- At Twilio
- What is Twilio ?
- It's a company, a start-up.
A year and a half ago, Laetitia decided to import some french gastronomy in the Silicon Valley.
She has no restaurant for its clients are companies that use caterers to feed their employees.
- Welcome at Twilio!
Arrived here 10 years ago, Laetitia scrape along as a teacher of French.
Before having the idea of cooking :
- Crepes
- Are you from Brittany?
- Even not
- That is the irony I am even not from Brittany. But I always loved crepes.
It is about 6pm, the 135 employees are still at work but not for long, it's dinner time.
- Here we go. They smelled the melt cheese, they all come running.
To please her customers, Laetitia and her team spare no expense on the toppings.
Swiss cheese, turkey, sauces.
Not very light nor very French.
- Here, good appetite.
But American love it.
- Look how beautiful it is, you want to taste?
- It looks great - Very good - We love Crepe-madame - Oh yes we love it!
They came here several times, this is one of my favorite caterers.
This meal is of course offered to employees by the company, which pays Laetitia € 10 per person.
Such a service brings her about € 1,500 each time.
And it's like that every day.
It is in the backyard of a small house that Laetitia and 3 employees, make the preparations for the next service.
- It at 5:15m
Cuting the ingredients, precooking the crepes, almost chainwork.
- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9, we have 9 working machines.
- It works hard
- I works hard yeah
For several months startups do not stop calling.
Laetitia had already worked in a hundred comapnies of the Silicon Valley, her little 'creperie' starts to pay a lot.
- Per month, 20 to 30.000$
- It's not bad, and of course our goal would be 60.000$
Eventually € 50,000 per month in revenue.
Initially she never imagined such a success.
She made her preparations in this little kitchen, helped by her roommates.
- This is where it all started. - We could fit 5 machines.
- And the house is old, sockets were blowing fuses so we had to put wires there there there, to the roommate's room.
Since then the company has become more professional and she even found an accountant.
- Sterling actually it's my boyfriend, he is the man of my life.
- It was he who pushed me by saying you can do it, you can do it.
But in her american dream
- Is it my herbs of Provence?
This daughter of the Riviera still retains a French touch.
- The secret is that my mom, imports those herbs from Saint-Raphaël.
- This is good stuff!
- Thanks mom!
