The VA-12 Vibration Analyzer by RION
This video will introduce the RION VA-12.
The VA-12 is a portable vibration analyzer with an FFT analysis function
specially designed for making measurements in the field.
This instrument is used in many fields such as product development, production
quality assurance and maintenance.
It can be used for both simple and precision diagnoses.
For example, measurements can be based on the ISO18436
"condition monitoring and precision diagnoses."
We would like to show you twelve features of the device:
1) Full-color display and a strong body
The TFT color display is designed to be easy to read,
egardless of whether the unit is used indoors, outdoors, or in dark locations.
Membrane switches ensure easy operation,
and there is an LED overload indicator.
With a wide dynamic range of up to 110dB,
it is not necessary to change the input range often.
The unit is protected by a tough,
shock-absorbing outer shell.
2) Vibration meter mode
There is a vibration meter mode in which the acceleration,
acceleration peak,
acceleration crest factor,
velocity,
and displacement can be measured simultaneously.
3) Time waveform mode
In time waveform mode,
acceleration waveforms, velocity,
displacement, and acceleration envelope curves
can be displayed using up to 8192 samples.
The time waveform display,
like an oscilloscope,
has a time axis which can be magnified
up to 32 times and a magnitude axis that can be magnified up to
16,384 times.
4) FFT mode
In FFT mode, an acceleration envelope is often
used for detecting bearing faults.
In this mode,
acceleration, velocity
and displacement can be displayed
with up to 3200 spectral lines.
This makes it possible to measure at a high frequency resolution.
Therefore, vibrations can be detected
which have occurred within a narrow frequency band.
Wave files can be recorded.
The duration is dependent on bandwidth
- up to 10 seconds at 20 kHz bandwidth
or 2,000 seconds
at 100 Hz bandwidth.
Using dedicated analysis software,
post-processing can be done using wave-form file data from the VA-12.
You can listen to the vibration sounds
and judge and analyze them.
The frequency axis can be magnified
2, 4, 8 or 16 times
and the magnitude axis can be magnified up to 1,024 times in FFT mode.
5) Can be used with most RION accelerometers.
CCLD accelerometers with integrated preamplifiers can be connected
using a BNC adapter.
Charge output type accelerometers
can be connected using a VP-40 charge converter.
6) Overlay display
Current measurement data
and older data
can be overlaid
for comparison purposes in FFT mode.
It is useful to compare measurements
from before and after a problem is fixed.
7) List display
The ten highest values in a graphically displayed data range are listed in descending order.
It’s easy to recognize the highest one.
8) Convenient SD cards for data storage
SD cards are used as the memory medium.
When an SD card is inserted,
the remaining capacity is shown.
9) Up to five parameter sets
center for others
Setup files allow for specifying five different sets
of measurement parameters.
These can be stored as a group on an SD card
10) Screen display captures
The image displayed on screen
can be captured as a BMP file at any time
11) Easy to transfer data
When connected to a computer
via a USB cable,
the SD card in the unit is recognized as a removable disk.
Data can be easily copied to your PC
and opened in Excel.
12) An Excel macro is available
There is a workbook macro
that will help you collect data and make graphs in Excel.
It’s very convenient when you want to make a report.
We appreciate that you took the time
to watch this presentation.
The RION VA-12 is really all you need to perform diagnostics on your machines.
Thank you
