About 200 LGBT's and supporters gather at the Grand Place to kiss each other tightly,
among them some well-known politicians.
The event took place two weeks after a gay man was beaten up because of his sexuality.
We live here in Brussels, and because of the recent incidents there came about some
animated discussions among ourselves on the terraces of the cafés,
We discussed about it, thought: "now it's ok, now we can take the safest way home"
but ultimately nothing really changes. And so I thought:
"let's make a strong stand for the politicians that something can be done.
Let us show them - with lots of people - that something really has to be done!"
So later, we're going to kiss for 5 minutes.
That's a long time of course, 5 minutes of kissing!
Just to show to a lot of people: "Look, this is possible too! In the centre of Brussels,
in the centre of the capital, in the centre of the capital of Europe even,
you should be able to just kiss(!) whether you're gay or straight.
The Kiss-In was initially planned to happen at la bourse,
but because of a manifestation of ethnic minorities at the same time,
the organizers wisely moved the Kiss-In to the Grand Place.
Being able to kiss your partner without embarrassment, that is the issue.
And they do so with great dedication!
Mostly gay men showed up, but there are also some supporters expressing their support.
I'm not gay, but there is a problem of violence in Brussels,
actually an undertone of violence, which often can occur suddenly and gratuitously,
and where people are often feel indifferent about.
And I'm here, because we should put a halt to this indifference.
And who are you about to kiss?
I cannot kiss anyone here, my boyfriend is in Oslo.
For a moment, the foreign tourists at the Grand Place don't know what's happening!
But eventually, most of them can sympathize with the action.
