For the first fourteen years of his life there was no writing, there was no reading, there
was no speaking. He was locked inside. He is the man who never gives up. He has persevered
in silence while he was learning and he was absorbing everything and he couldn't tell
us. At two years old it was almost like a door slammed shut and my son stopped answering
to his name. Whatever words he had he'd lost them. He was diagnosed with autism. There
was a lot of turmoil and a lot of sleepless nights. Two years ago I found a way of Joey
to communicate. His thoughts and his desires have come out. That has totally revolutionized
our life, Joey's life, my life, anyone that's around him. I meditate with Joey every morning.
Initially he could only do about 5 minutes and then he'd jump up. But we've gradually
increased it and now we and I can be in the room for 20 minutes assuming he's not starving
for breakfast. Joey absolutely loves Transcendental Meditation, it's something he really looks
forward to. TM is the best start on the day. TM is the best start on the day. It's part
of our routine every morning, it's something that really binds us together. Joey started
writing on his letter board that he wanted to start a business. He wanted to help other
autistic people find their voice like he had and also raise money for children that have
autism to learn how to meditate. I see that Joey is making vast strides. How can TM help
others with autism? You know they need help to settle their minds too. Applying to my
foundation for help can make this truly happen. He is the man who never gives up and is such
a happy soul and a good person and really wants to help the world.
